Answer This Question

A:  Hello. Our alarms take a reading ever 30 seconds to a minute but display an average of readings over multiple readings. It is not an instant reader.

Q:What CO level will this alarm at?
      by|Oct 12, 2022
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hello. This alarm is a UL listed carbon monoxide alarm and as such is required to be time weighted. The unit has to read carbon monoxide constantly for an amount of time to give an alert and the higher the amount, the less time needed to set off the alarm. Per the UL standards, at 70 PPM, the alarm will go off after 1 to 4 hours of constant exposure. At 150 PPM, the alarm will go off after 10 to 50 minutes of constant exposure. At 400 PPM or higher, it will go off after 4 to 10 minutes of constant exposure. The lowest amount that will set off the alarm is 30 PPM if exposed for long enough amount of time which would be hours.

Q:Can this co2 detector be used for travel?
        by|Jul 31, 2022
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hello. No. And yes. This is not a short term tester and does have to be in a location for a number of hours or days to get a good reading and go off, especially for low levels of carbon monoxide. This alarm does have to be in an indoor residential application and is not rated for use in a car or RV or a boat. If you are staying a number of days in a residential location, this alarm will protect you there.

          CO monitor
I bought this as this is the same as my apt complex has but they installed it high near the out ac vents. Since CO is heavier than air I thought this was stupid. Mgr refused to move it so I bought this to place level with my bed. I feel safer with it near me.

Kidde Firex Battery Operated Digital Carbon Monoxide Detector This carbon monoxide detector comes with the 3 required batteries. It is very simple to set-up and install. The fire department recommends that at minimum you have one placed at least 6 feet away from a gas furnace / hot water heater / gas clothes dryer and in the hallway outside of the bedrooms. CO is an odorless gas that kills people every year and they never knew what hit them. If you are reading this, please do your family a favor and install a few of these! This particular unit has a digital display that will show the level of carbon monoxide. It will also show low battery warning. It will also give a warning in 7 years from initial installation when it is time to replace the unit with a new one. Overall, I think this is a good unit for what it does. I feel that it is a little overpriced for how simple that it is and that it’s made in China, but there aren’t a lot of choices available.

This carbon monoxide detector was very easy to set up, and it also included the batteries. We have hardwired smoke detectors but they do not monitor the carbon monoxide. Our house has an attached garage with the gas fueled furnace. We never really thought about it before and realized that it was a necessity since carbon monoxide could easily come in through the vents and we would not even know it. Great investment to compliment your existing smoke detectors

The Kidde Brand, Firex Battery Operated Digital Carbon Monoxide Detector offers protection for ten years before needing replacement with periodic battery replacements over its life. Easily mounted with only two screws. And since CO disperses and mixes relatively evenly with indoor air, rendering installation height non critical. However, it is recommended it be placed at least three feet above the floor to better protect from accidental damage. It may even be set on a table or shelf, not requiring wall mounting. However, if wall mounted, two screws are supplied for wall installation. I find the CO alarm easily sides up and off the battery cover or back, making battery replacement easy. In Fact, this new model Kiddy brand CO alarm used the same battery cover as our old Kidde CO alarm making replacement super easy, sliding the old alarm off and sliding the new alarm in place. Even though all the appliances in our home are natural gas, except for our central air conditioner, our new Kidde CO detector has been reading zero CO.

I needed a carbon monoxide detector/alarm to monitor possible CO emissions from my gas furnace. Kidde sells a bewildering array of CO detectors from which to choose. This one happens to be a model that is battery-powered and has a digital display that shows the level of carbon monoxide detected (in parts per million). · Mounting it near my furnace was pretty easy, although I ended up mounting it rotated 90°counter-clockwise from horizontal so it could be attached to a wooden stud on the wall near the furnace. I can still read the display without too much trouble. · The alarm annunciator loudness is spec’d at 85 dB at 10 feet. I measured 90 dB at 6 feet. · I have two concerns about the annunciator. First, the alarm sounds identical to my smoke detectors, so it will be difficult to distinguish between the annunciation of the smoke detectors and the CO detector. Second, I can barely hear the alarm on my second floor (my furnace is two floors below in the basement). Kidde should come up with a way to connect CO detectors the way smoke detectors are required to be connected when they are located on different floors. Important: Seven years from the initial power up, the alarm will beep two times every 30 seconds to indicate that it is time to replace the alarm. Per the instructions, the alarm must be replaced immediately because it will not detect carbon monoxide at that point. · Made in China.

It was time to change out my existing carbon monoxide detector (which should be replaced every 10 years) because I installed a new gas fireplace and furnace and wanted to make sure I had a viable detector. This device proved to be simple to install and operate. It arrived well-packaged with complete instructions for installation of the batteries, wall mounting, and operating and alarm characteristics. After installing the batteries (which were provided with the device), I quickly mounted the detector where the previous unit had been and had it tested and operating within just a few minutes. The device also provides space to note when the unit needs to be replaced and it comes with a warning label that can be mounted nearby which describes what to do in case the alarm signal sounds and space to write-in phone numbers for emergency services.

It’s important to have Carbon Monoxide detectors in your house. They really do save lives. Apparently they have to be replaced about every 10 years and have built in alarms to let you know when they are getting old. My old one began beeping to let me know it had been 10 years, so this will be its replacement. This particular model has an LCD screen that gives a constant readout of the CO levels. Neat I guess for those that want to monitor that. It runs on 3 AA batteries (included). Though, some other models have built in lithium ion batteries that last the life of the product rather than AA’s that have to be replaced every 6 months. Regardless, it looks like a good product and is an important safety device for my home and family. One thing I really appreciated is the placement of the screws is exactly the same as my 10 year old model, so I didn't even have to put in new screws to hang this one.

I picked the Kidde Firex Battery Operated Digital Carbon Monoxide Detector because of all of it's great features, like that it has a peak level memory, that shows the highest level of CO detected. I like the normal operation display, so I'm not guessing if it's working correctly. The low battery display ,And the feature I like the most is the END on the display, which tells you that the unit needs to be replaced.

This Kidde battery-powered carbon monoxide detector has great instructions for use, and because it is battery-powered you have a lot of flexibility in its placement. The display is easy to read and reset with the buttons on the front panel (see picture). It is supplied with three AA batteries, and be sure to carefully insert the batteries so that the polarity matches the very small polarity markings in the battery tray. I did at first have difficulty installing the battery adjacent to the exterior side of the detector such that the back cover did not seat well. However, after using a flat blade screwdriver to help wedge in the battery I was able to get it to seat properly.
