I have replaced the battery 4 times in one of the alarms, but hours later it begins to chirp again. Hitting the reset button stops it for a few hours, but it begins to chirp again. Is there something else that needs to be done?
Asked by: May92018
Shut off the power to the alarm at the fuse box (you'll see the light go out on it). Use the recommended battery. Turn the power back on.

Will this unit work as a replacement to a Firex FADC ? Would I need an adapter plug I have 3 of the FADC models hard wired, interconnected that need to be replaced. Thank you .
Asked by: Jm
My replacement was similar (though not identical). I found that the adapter eased installation of the newer-to-older connection ("plug-n-play" installation). You need to know what is on the end of your installed wiring and what is required by the new detector. Alternatively, the older termination plug can be re-wired (cut 'n' splice wiring) with the plug provided with the new detector.

Yes. The power to the circuit they are on should be shut off at the panel.

Can I use these without wiring, operate them just on batteries? I received this 4pack almost a year ago and just pulled them out to install to learn about the wiring. Thanks in advance.
Asked by: Nickname
No. They should be hard wired so that if one goes off, they all go off. Battery is for power interruption.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Different Wiring Harness & Mounting Bracket I bought 8 of these to replace a group of 10-year-old smoke detectors of the same brand and equivalent Kidde/Firex model. Thought I'd be able to simply unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones. Wrong!! The current version has both a new/different wiring harness and a new/different mounting bracket. Still not a difficult task, but not nearly as quick or easy as I expected. Another case of unnecessary "improvements" making life more difficult.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They don't seem to set-up/work properly, very difficult. I have five of these 'interconnected' smoke-alarms in my home. One started chirping...I guessed it needed a battery. I installed a battery... the smoke-alarm kept chirping. I bought a new battery and installed it.... the smoke-alarm kept chirping. How long will this go on... it seems like "for eternity"! I find devices that don't work per the advertisemnets and directions very disheartening. I would not again, buy these detectors. PS: its still chirping... even with a new battery!!!! I may have to 'cut' the wires... and then replace the smoke-alarms PPS: I'm a qualified fire protection engineer (which makes this problem into a serious situation for me)... how can I recommend such a device?).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solved the problem, but not without a minor glitch Ordered this specific model to replace identical model# in my system. However, it was not exactly plug and play. The manufacturer has changed the pigtail connector, so I had to remove the existing connector and replace with the new one. While not a difficult task, it only required removing the three wire nuts and installing the new connector, This is not a difficult task for some, but most purchasers may need to call a qualified electrician.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not stop chirping Replaced battery and it was OK for a few hours and started chirping. Repeated a second time and the same thing happened. So buying a new one. The same model (different number) to be compatible with others and fit on the base already installed. 2.5 years since installation.
