the unit, if unplugged, will chirp as a warning: 'the unit is unplugged'
The sensors lasts about 8 to 10 years. Keep the receipt! They expect you to loose the warrantee. Write the purchase date on the back in permeate marker.
yes it will sound off 2 short beeps every few minutes they say it's life span is 10 years
If the sensor is AC powered, it usually means it is powered. The instructions should describe the LED indicator's use.
No. CO is heavy and hugs the floor. Natural gas is mostly methane and rises. The odor is added to alert you to a leak or open valve.
Yes, this may be unplugged without it sounding alarm. During our summer months, since not running our furnace, both our detectors are unplugged. Plugged them back this autumn and they are working fine.
I've never heard ours chirp. It used to be my mother's and I'm sure she would have called me if it chirped for her. Did you try putting in a new battery? Maybe the battery is weak and causes chirping, similar to a smoke detector. Also, I hope you test it on a regular basis to make sure it is working properly.
I have not seen any contradictory info regarding placing the detectors along a regular floor outlet. These do not have any display except the indicator light which is easy to see. I found they actually make a fair night light when I get up in the middle of the night, but not bright enough to keep me awake.
I have them in my bed rooms, my living room because of gas fireplace and kitchen because of oven and stove And also in hallway under my central heater. All my appliances use natural gas.
The batteries will not last very long. Get a battery only unit.
