Asked by: Slick
Ours was, and obviously stored in-store but out of sight. Very grateful that it was-saved me the stress and needed a truck to get it home, but worth it. But it may have just been the store we frequent, 3000 W. Belleview Ave., Littleton, Colorado 80123. Ask for Bridget-she was awesome !

Pros - Front door that opens to tend coals is really handy, and it sells at very low cost for the features you get. The hanging charcoal grid can be raised during cooking if coals get low, and allows a LOT of airflow up through the coals. The pull out bottom tray very handy for removing ash, great design for that reason. Cons - for one thing, i miss a thermometer on the front, like my old one had. Mainly some of the best parts are a problem too. the hanging charcoal grid must be evenly spread with your wood or coals, if too far back and it will tip coals in to bottom tray. The biggest problem is that the ash from the coals, which collects as a fine powdery ash, in the bottom tray, gets picked up in the air convection and lands on top of the food. This was using charcoal briquettes. Perhaps hardwood charcoal chunks will produce less fine powder ash. Also, sill try shallow aluminum disposable pans with water in them might solve the issue too. willing to try as I like the grill design so well.

It has all the features I wanted after using a smoker upright for years. To ensure you do not get cracked paint, cure it according to the instructions prior to use. It give you even heat distribution, I am highly pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this grill. The side table does fold down as shown in the photos attached, I would also recommend to line the ash tray with foil, just my preference. I love the hanging basket, it ensures the tray is not exposed to extreme heat as with other grills I have used, it is also adjustable, so you can control the amount of heat comes in contact with what you are grilling. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Large Cooking Area and Reasonably Priced Grill I do lots of grilling with charcoal and various woods, and decided to obtain the Kingsford Lone Star Charcoal Grill. What stands out with this grill is the large size and user-friendly features that are normally found on grills priced much higher. The cooking area is 593 sq. inches and includes cast iron grates and a chrome-plated warming rack. It has an adjustable charcoal grate and a convenient front access door for easy refueling without removing the cooking grates. It also has two adjustable side dampers and adjustable chimney damper for precise temperature control. A foldable side shelf and bottom storage rack are included, as well as steel wagon wheels for easy transport. The main thing lacking is an integrated thermometer in the lid. The grill construction is also painted (thin) steel, which is not near as durable as cast iron. Although this is a budget priced grill, the features are outstanding and it should provide several years use if covered and protected from the weather.

Home Depot let me exchange it for another, and the second one had undamaged parts. The assembly instructions didn't have enough details, so it took a while to put together (we had no experience with building a grill) and in particular there was no indication until the very last step that the left and right panels were not symmetrical. There are holes in the panels that the warming grill is mounted to, and so if you didn't notice the tiny little hole in the drawings of the panels, it's really easy to swap them. And installing the panels in one of the first steps, so to fix this mistake you would have to disassemble the entire thing. Or do what I did - buy a 1/4" metal drill bit, and create new holes in the right place. My rating is based on the fact that this only cost $100, which I think is good for the size and design. The instructions were very poor - clearly the person who wrote them never actually tried to follow them! Once the grill was assembled, it seemed sturdy, and it worked well. I have not owned it long enough to comment on the longevity of the finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flimsy Couple quick items; the Kingsford brand charcoal has been synonymous with charcoal grilling for nearly 100 years. This grill has a classic look and functionally the grill did it’s job. My chief complaint is on the materials it’s made with, the metal is so thin that the grill actually had damage before it came out of the box, grill grates are flimsy as well. It’s sad to say but this grill is cheaply made it doesn’t seem worthy of the name Kingsford.

A huge tree branch flattened my beloved Char-Broil kettle grill in the fall and since a grill is a must in our household we saw the Kingsford Lone Star on sale at Home Depot and picked it up. It was completely assembled, (yeah!) and glad we had our truck. So.....my first disappointment was that this grill does not have a built in thermostat which we didn't notice. Secondly, the grills are thin, not the thick heavy wrought iron kind that give you those fantastic grill marks on your meats that were on my Char-broil, which also had a thermostat. Luckily, I saved the grills and they fit right into the lone star! But to be fair, I do love the slide out ash disposal and the front charcoal door. It does it's job and is a decent grill.
