Q:The total length of my shower is 60". In the specification, it shows each mounting base is 1-5/8" long, and the rod is 60" to 70" long. My question is this: Can this curtain rod system (both the two mounting bases and the rod) fit in a 60" opening?

        A:  This rod is NOT one solid piece. It is two pieces (one slips inside of the other, much like a curtain rod) that is adjustable in length. However, it is not a tension rod and it does screw into the wall with a plate cover and when installed properly you do not see any screws. Hope that helps.

          A:  The rod is adjustable.Don't think they made one solid piece ones, unless you have it custom made. There are plate covers so you don't see any screws. Didn't like the plastic cover where the rod adjust, took a brown permanent marker to it. Can't tell the difference. Makes a nice addition to all the oil rubbed bronze fixtures in the bathroom.

            A:  Rod is actually two pieces with one piece sliding inside the other so that it is adjustable within its range. Rods are hollow and not solid. There are two small mounting plates that are attached to the wall with screws. The end of the rod is then secured to the mounting plate with small set screws.

                59 inch opening in my (2) showers
                Just wanted to let anyone know who was like myself and was wondering if this would work in a smaller opening (less then 60inches). I ordered 2 because I had 2 showers that measured 59 inches for the wall to wall opening. I took a chance on these because there are not many options I could find for oil rubbed bronze in a fixed rod. Needless to say these work great. These are not the same mechanism as a tension rod so from my experience you could use these well below or above the prescribed 60/72 inch range. Also I saw and question asking weather these rods could be cut to size. You will not have to cut them. They have a much larger range then what is advertised. Once you affix your mounts just extend your rods (internal and external out to the required length, and secure set screw on top of mount. Very clean looking rods and very secure. My only advice to the manufacturer would be to add a spacer of some kind between the internal and external rod to bridge the gap between the two as there is very minimal play there.
