What is the recommended minimum space from the bottom of the cutout for the 1.4 cu. ft. Built-In ...

Asked by Jack December 20, 2016

Answers

I must correct my answer. The answer I gave (1.5 inches) was for cabinet doors below the microwave. On another web site publishing installation documents I read that a 3 inch minimum clearance is required if there is an oven below the microwave.

Is the kmbp100ess function the same as a speed oven. Does it act like a regular oven to bake and crisp things in

Asked by Wrangler January 21, 2016

Answers

Both of these ovens are very similar. The word speed should be referred to as the microwave portion of these convection microwaves. The Bosch speed oven has a 1000W microwave vs. the K/A at 900W. The broiler/heating element in the Bosch is 1700W. vs. the K/A at 1600W. The electric elements that heat for convection, broiling and crisping need to preheat up to 10 minutes depending on what internal temperature is selected. 450* is the maximum for both ovens. The Bosch unit has a removable wire rack that can attach in the center or sit at the bottom of the oven, a round turntable made of ceramic, and a metal version of the same. A broil pan and grid can be ordered as an optional accessory. Only the K/A unit comes equipped with a dedicated 3 piece steam vessel, combo round pizza/broil pan that has a handy detachable handle, rectangular metal grill / baking / broiling tray and glass turntable with a removable, round metal rack that sits on top of it. Both ovens have all the same remarkable features but one comes equipped more standard cooking / steaming accessories. The other has 100 more microwave and convection cooking watts. Both have pull down to open doors that will favor tall cooks like myself. At 6'3" our convection microwave is installed 4'2" from the floor to the bottom of the unit. My 5"4" daughter can easily pull the door open and reach inside. Plan on a side open door if your microwave height will be higher or not as tall. After years of pushing a button to pop the door open, moving the door to the side and then holding it so it wont swing back at you, we prefer the pull down door. We never realized how annoying it was to catch the door every time we opened the microwave. One other difference between the two is that almost all of the control button features on the Bosch are under glass. Every control function surface on the K/A are covered by glass. This makes cleaning easier and clear as glass every time. On a side note both ovens can run on either on 120V or 240V.

Can this be put in a center island?

How do I unlock my microwave

Asked by Terri June 9, 2019
1
Answer

Terri, please follow the steps below. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our KitchenAid appliances! On microwave ovens, the Control lock is locked or unlocked by touching the “Cancel” key pad. On combination ovens, the Control lock is locked or unlocked by touching the lower oven “Start” keypad. The Control Lock shuts down the control panel keypads to avoid unintended use of the oven. The Control Lock will remain set after a power failure, if set before the power failure occurs. When the control is locked, only the Set/Start, Oven Light, and Timer Set/Off keypads will function. The Control Lock is preset unlocked, but can be locked. To Lock Control: Touch and hold lower oven START (on combination ovens only) or Cancel (on microwave ovens only) for approximately 3 seconds, until “Control Locked” appears on the lower text line and a lock icon appears in the display. To Unlock Control: Repeat to unlock. “Control Unlocked” appears on the lower text line and the lock icon will be removed

Convection Microwave?Smart Oven
Customer review from kitchenaid.com logo
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just installed my new appliances. Had to retro fit due to upgrade from a basic less than builder grade Frigidaire product. I wanted the convection microwave due to standard oven, then found this SMART Oven which is going to be fun to use the attachments when they come in. So far the microwave was easy to install but make sure you have the correct AMP since this is convection when you upgrade. I LOVE the Black Stainless. It also comes with extra attachments such as crisper, convection mat, and baking tray. Slightly pricey but worth it with the added attachments. I cooked cut and bake cookies in less than 15 minutes from turning on the oven. Lightly crisp edges and chewy......great with milk to celebrate the christening of the install.

Great features beautiful appliance
Customer review from kitchenaid.com logo
We purchased this unit from a store that was going out of business. Finally we had it installed in our beautiful new home when it was completed and at that time discovered that the microwave was missing a couple of things first the bracket that supports it to set directly on top of the convection oven and the microwave plate. We made a brace for the oven to sit on but still do not have the plate
