Q:How is the over range lighting? I’m replacing a 40 yr old Kenmore with two 12x3” “windows”covering an internally installed fluorescent tube, lights up the whole kitchen. Not an easy replacement. The light is crucial to my choice of replacement.

Love my Kitchen Aid

I replaced our Maytag microwave with this wonderful Kitchen Aid, because the Maytag, had some disabled parts, and was only 4 years old, but not worth fixing. Kitchen Aid has always been my favourite appliance. Everything is upgraded in comparison, from the door handle to all the features. Now I’m saving up to replace our Maytag stove to a Kitchen Aid.

American made - check. Matches my other "replaced" KitchenAid appliances (LG previously) - check. Very QUIET - check. A bit deeper than LG/nice surprise - check. Inaccurate cardboard installation template to match the back of the microwave - yikes who messed that up - what an installation aggravation that was! Overall - I like it. Now just wish the KitchenAid double range wasn't priced at $2600 to $2999 to complete my kitchen set.

The Microwave I Wanted

Cooks a little high but still getting used to it. A bit pricey but hoping it will last. My GE recently blew up. Not as many convenience buttons but sometimes simple is better. Love the black stainless.

Love it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hope I’m not jinxing myself by saying this, but I really, really like this microwave. It has the features I wanted without bells and whistles I didn’t. Excellent quality for price point, too. The interior is so easy to clean (and I like that, unlike my former GE Profile, it doesn’t have a lot of perforations and attached part on the “ceiling” , which made it hard to clean). The textured handle is also a nice feature as it ends the constant wiping of fingerprints that a smooth one requires. Powerful fan that pulls from the front of stove as well as back, unlike the GE. Having the rack option is nice, especially when keeping multiple things warm for large meals like Thanksgiving. The signal is such a nice change from the piercing beep of most models. I also like the large window…short people can see into it! We’ve had it a little over a month and have used many of the cooking features. So far things have come out as expected with no “tweaks”. The defrost cycle has done an excellent job so far ((I use a lot) without cooking the edges of the food before it’s defrosted. This stainless finish unit is installed over a slide in GE Profile black ceramic top stove in slate color, but does not stand out as mismatched, unless you count the logo. Overall, I would recommend this microwave.

Great selection of auto features
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought the whole suite of black stainless appliances when remodeling and paired them with charcoal colored cabinets. We so love the look but especially appreciate the quality features!
The microwave is sturdy with the heavy duty handle but still elegant. And we so appreciate all the Auto functions, especially the "sensing" dinner plate and soften/melt features, which eliminate so much guesswork!
We highly recommend!
