No the new units do not have the disposal like the old ones used to have. But it has a basket thing that must be cleaned out occasionally, but it certainly seems like it will be more reliable over time as there aren't moving parts.

Most quiet washer I have ever owned! Lots of room for everything with the 3rd top rack, which is adjustable. This easily fit in my old dishwasher counter space, and was running (quietly) in less than 2 hours from unboxing. Installation would have gone faster if the water hose adapter had been included and if the electrical connection box didn’t require both a strain relief and temporarily removing the water overflow sensor. The manual explains these steps, but could have been easier with just a few more parts and illustrations or video links. The dishwasher comes with several insulating foam pieces which ought to be better diagrammed in the manual, or on the washer exterior. The foam helps both with energy efficiency and keeping the unit quiet, so it is definitely important to install. My criticisms are only with the installation, which wasn’t horrible, just harder than it should be for a premium appliance. It looks fantastic: solid, stainless steel trim and interior. Door-edge mounted controls are sleek and informative. Most importantly, dishes come out cleaner than my old dishwasher, and it uses less energy. The ProWash cycle uses sensors to keep washing dishes until the waste water is clean, so it uses less water and time when the dishes do not need as much cleaning. As a premium brand dishwasher, this is such a great upgrade for our home!

(What's this)
KitchenAid KDTE204KB is truly a beautiful machine. The kitchen is where, more than ever, we are spending additional time, simply because we are home more, often day and night. The dishwasher is more important than ever because we need to make way for the next meal or we need to clean and sanitize killing any virus or bacteria that we are exposed to. Tthis dishwasher has dry heat and extended dry heat on top of the sanitize wash cycles. At this time it is the quietest dishwasher in their line up.. Meaning you can have guests or your family right beside you as this is running and no one's the wiser, it's that quiet. This has a lot of other benefits and options and if you're in the market, read on I will tell you what I see. I notice others have left review photos of the outside so I am going inside and let's start at the top. The third rack is an excellent idea. It obviously will hold all your long stuff like spatulas and potato mashers and that type stuff but it's also perfect for all your silverware and it has little signs giving you hints how to load it up. The entire rack is a thick durable plastic that will never ever rust. Do you recall rust used to be an issue? The middle rack has its own spray arm that shoots water upward and downward. On the left and right hand of the rack there is a button that allows you to adjust the rack upward or downward making it easy to stuff larger things under it or on it. It's simple to adjust with the big buttons. The rack glides smoothly and is made of wire that has what seems to be a permanent coating on it. I recall the thick vinyl covered wire that would always cause rust after a while on the early dishwashers, even KitchenAid. I don’t think we have to worry about that now. And the front of the rack has an attractive stainless steel medallion with KitchenAid engraved on it. Lots of room. The bottom rack is the same type of wire too and is large and hungry. Ready for your largest pots and pans. The way it's set up you could fill the bottom rack with a ton of ball jars if you are doing any canning. The basket is on the right side and has a heavy duty handle in the middle and two sliding locking lids on opposing sides. Perfect for ball jar lids or baby pacifiers or anything you are afraid might get loose. And the rack slides smoothly when it's filled. Inside the door there is a detergent dispenser for the “action packs”, it will hold two of them, next to it is the rinse aid dispenser with a little sight glass on it. Both open easily and close securely. Inside the tub it's completely covered in high quality stainless steel. On the tub floor you have a large stainless screen that drains the water and a disposal on top and a spray arm on top of it all. The heating element is tucked way down inside a recessed area so it's out of the way and you can use the heat without concern (plastic on middle shelf). There is also a filter you clean in that area. The operating controls are laid out along the top edge providing room for a towel bar. The bar is stainless steel covered in hatch marks. Providing a good grip for my hands which are often wet with something from the sink or stove. Also helpful in making the hand towel stay on the handle. Controls are as follow: CYCLES ProWash Tough Normal Express Rinse only OPTIONS High Temp Wash Sani Cycle Heated Dry Extended Heat Dry LIGHTS 2hr 4hr *hr Delay Washing Drying Clean Sanitized START/RESUME CANCEL/DRAIN For a full load of typical soil load select Normal with Dry Heat option per KitchenAid. The Prowash uses the sensor to adjust the cycles, timing. It’s the default, so if you just hit start, it goes to Prowash not Normal with the heated dry. Express wash skips the heated air cycle. The cleaning is very thorough. A tip, modern dishwashers require rinse aid in the final rinse for several reasons you should not ignore it. A detergent that has rinse aid, uses it up before the final rinse. That's really important to know. With it being so quiet I can’t figure out why you need delay unless you are in some energy program. But you have three options there. 2,4,8hr. I think the magic combo for a nasty burnt on situation is the Tough Cycle with Extended Heat Dry. That hits the high points on operation. Home Depot has the guides and manuals listed on the product page. KitchenAid website does not have them all. The cycle guide/explanation is in the specification pdf. Electricity used in a year about $35, Cheap. My install kit included a 8ft drain hose. The specs said 12ft. I had a 12ft on hand just in case and I am glad I did because I wanted it long enough to have a loop in it. Further, I changed the included rubber water supply hose out with a stainless mesh hose, I used a similar mesh one on my washer hoses and that gives me peace of mind and I needed the 3 prong electrical cord since it was not going to be directly wired. I am really pleased with this and look forward to the help it provides me. And thankfully now I have a place to hang a damp dish towel.

This dishwasher looks great, works well, is quiet and easy to operate. The black stainless finish looks good and is easy to clean. The fingerprints, dirt and smudges just wipe off. The installation was as expected with no hiccups. It does seem that this is lighter than my previous one which was about 10 years old. I did notice that the frame and base of this dishwasher has a lot more plastic on it than my old one. As far as the function goes, this has a lot of insulating blanket around it and is very quiet. It has three racks and the middle one is adjustable which means that this will fit a lot of different sized dishes. It can hold a lot of dishes all at once. We have gotten into the habit of really prewashing our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher because our old machine was not that good. I wanted to see what this one could handle and purposefully left the dishes rather dirty (stuck on sauces on plates, hardened jelly/ketchup, etc…) when putting them in. This got them all clean without missing a spot. The controls have a lot of different settings, but they are easy to choose which one you want. The display even has a complete light which is nice for knowing if the dishes are clean or dirty.

The Whirlpool KitchenAid dishwasher KDTE204KBL is the best dishwasher that I have ever owned. It was very easy to install with very clear instructions. There is more space inside than any of our previous dishwashers and I have owned 4 in twenty four years. The first time we ran the unit, we were very surprised at how quiet it was, actually checking it to see if it was still running. Our dishes came out very clean and dry. I would highly recommend this dishwasher as it appears to be very high quality and a great buy for the price.

We recently acquired this beautiful new Kitchen Aid 24 inch front control tall tub dishwasher in a color white with stainless steel and with a third level utensil rack. The instilllation went very easily for the men that put it in. The quality of this machine is the best I have ever seen as far as quality and durability. The front control buttons are very easily read and you don't have to pull it down to see where it is at in operation.

(What's this)
This Kitchenaid dishwasher is a great option if you are looking for a quiet, efficient machine. Right out of the box it is apparent that it is very well built. The three racks are a big perk. We especially love the top rack and use it for large utensils and knives. I love that the basket holes aren’t huge so I don’t have to worry about my knives falling through or shifting into an unsafe position during the wash cycle. The bottom utensil basket is removal which helps a lot when unloading the dishes. The middle rack is adjustable and we’ve found it to be a great feature. We’ve used the normal and express wash cycles and prefer the express. The normal cycle takes a fair amount of time to complete. The front controls include a control-lock which is a great feature to have with toddlers running around. They love to touch the buttons and it is nice to lock the controls and not have them setting off the dishwasher all the time. Another huge pro is that the dishwasher is extremely quiet while running. My only complaint with this dishwasher is that the installation was very difficult. I would highly recommend getting this installed by Home Depot’s professionals. I did find out that they won’t do an install if it wasn’t requested when the unit was bought. It took me and one other person 4 hours to remove the old dishwasher and install this one. One hiccup we encountered is that there was no power cord included. The directions mention kits that you can buy from Home Depot, but we ended up using the cord from the other dishwasher and splicing the wires to get it all working (see picture of electrical housing) It was frustrating, but other than that inconvenience the rest of the installation was straight forward. Overall I am very happy with the dishwasher and would recommend.

(What's this)
This review is for the KitchenAid 24 in. Front Control Tall Tub Dishwasher in Black with Stainless Steel and Third Level Utensil Rack. I have several KitchenAid appliances and have satisfied with the durability and functionality of the large appliance product line. I love black finish appliances and this one has a very nice finish; however, it does not match the black finish on my KitchenAid double ovens. Two things that I especially appreciate about the dishwasher are the tall stainless-steel tub and the third rack. The third rack is extremely useful for small items that could potentially get dropped to the bottom of the dishwasher during cleaning and for larger utensils. The stainless-steel tub is easy to clean and does not stain. Here’s what I don’t like about it and why I think you should look at more configurable dishwashers: 1) The bottom heating element is exposed; this means if small items drop to the bottom they could melt. It also means you should not try to clean plastic items in the bottom rack because they will probably warp. 2) The only rack that can easily be removed is the bottom rack (probably for cleaning the filter). I was unable to remove the middle or top (3rd) rack. While the middle rack is adjustable, I sometimes need even more height for taller items and want to easily remove and reinstall that rack. 3) None of the tines are adjustable and that feature is incredibly useful because many dishes do not fit the standard configuration. The appliance is well packaged for shipping and, if you follow the instructions to cut along the bottom of the box, it’s easy to get it out of the box. However, there was a loose screw on the bottom of the box. Not sure what it’s for but it shouldn’t be there.

This is my second KitchenAid dishwasher. The first one lasted for over 15 years. I love the stainless steel tub. The new top rack for utensils is great. With most dishwasher you have to put those large cooking utensils on the glass rack because if they are too tall they interfere with the upper spray arm. That rack is awesome. You can put large BBQ tongs, knives, and other long items and not worry about those items interfering with the spray arm. It is very quiet. Can barely hear it running. I installed it myself. I think this dishwasher is awesome.

This is one quality machine. When they say Stainless Steel, they mean the entire interior is stainless steel, not just the tub, but all the racks as well. The only exception it the utensil basket and rack, but that is a feature that does not require any real strength and well worth having. One big GOOF on MY part was I failed to fully read the description and was surprised when the delivery folks asked me where I wanted it installed! Delivery and normal installation is INCLUDED in the price. The full instructions even suggest how to prepare your home for their arrival. When I said I wasn't ready to have it installed, they had no problem with that and then handed me all the accessories I would need to replace all the plumbing with hoses, hardware, and also the electrical connections and cord. There is even mention of hauling away the old appliance but I didn't inquire if that was free or not. All and all, all one needs to do is POINT and these folks take care of it all. I highly recommend this product.... but was somewhat bothered by the "AMERICA" label... as it appears to be manufactured in Canada. I'm not faulting the company for where its made, but I don't appreciate any deception.

This is a nice-looking machine that is very quiet while operating, in fact the product description states that it is the quietest KitchenAid dishwasher. This model is loaded with features: • One automatic cycle and four manual cleaning cycles • Options for high temperature washing and drying • All stainless-steel interior for durability • A special third top rack that is prefect for large knives, spatulas, and kitchen utensils • A middle rack that is easily adjusted for taller items Installing the unit is typical for most dishwashers. The detailed illustrated instructions are excellent and cover the most common hookup scenarios for under a countertop next to the sink installation. All of the normally needed hoses, clamps and mounting brackets are included I have been using the normal cycle and am very satisfied with the way it cleans my pots, dishes, and cutlery.
