Product Overview

This high power, 1000-watt convection over-the-range microwave lets you use it to steam and simmer thanks to a sensor-monitored cooking cycle and an innovative container. A 6-speed ventilation fan helps capture smoke, grease and odors from the cooking surface below, empowering cooks to create with confidence. Stainless Steel with PrintShield Finish resists smudges and fingerprints, making clean up easy.
  • Convection Cooking: Convection cooking allows baking at up to 425° F in the microwave
  • Sensor Steam/Simmer Cook Cycle with Steamer Container: Features a microwave sensor that triggers a cycle that precisely steams food based on type and selected doneness. Just add water to the provided steamer container to help achieve the best cooking results
  • PrintShield Finish: Resists smudges and fingerprints. The specialized coating for stainless steel is easy to clean with just water and a soft cloth, so you can spend more time cooking and less time cleaning up the kitchen
  • 1000-Watt Power: Cook your favorite foods quickly and thoroughly with high power
  • 6-Speed Ventilation System: Captures smoke, grease and odors from the cooking surface below for everything from simmering to high temperature cooking techniques like pan searing and stir-frying so you can experiment with confidence. Six-speed fan control lets you select and adjust the fan speed depending on your ventilation requirements
  • Sensor Functions: Automatically adjust the time needed to cook, reheat or defrost your food, removing the guesswork about power levels or cooking times
  • Stainless Steel Cavity: Extends the beauty and easy cleaning of the exterior to the interior of the microwave oven
  • Steam Cleaning Function: Uses the power of steam and added water to release spills and stains so they are more easily wiped away
  • 1.9 cu. ft. Capacity: Uses the power of steam and added water to release spills and stains so they are more easily wiped away
  • Halogen Task Lights: Provides illumination and visibility for the cooktop below with two halogen lamps
  • Stoppable Turntable: Helps cook food evenly by continually rotating throughout the cooking cycle. The turntable can be stopped if, for example, the shape of the cooking dish blocks its rotation
  • Keep Warm Function: Keep Warm function keeps foods warm until ready to be served

Nice microwave!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The light underneath doesn't have an automatic night light like my previous GE - and I have to remember to change it at night and again in the morning Somewhat complicated but i like it .

    The vent doesn't vent
I have had my convection microwave for 4 years. It still doesn't vent. I see the same issues as another reviewer. The fan on Mac I still have a ton of smoke and steam. The face of the oven gets dripping wet as do my cabinets. Other than the size and look it isn't worth buying. I bake a lot. Something in the microwave died. The oven no longer bakes evenly now. So I can't use it as just an oven. We tried have it repaired. It cost less to replace. It just breaks my heart. We bought it because kitchen aid has been around forever. I guess forever doesn't mean the same today as it did when my grandmother and mother bought kitchen aid.

      Really nice, could be great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After waiting several months, we finally received our new microwave. It has a sleek modern style and tons of great features… operates very quietly, has convection and a rack so you can do more than one dish at a time. But, and it’s a big but, the buttons aren’t backlit so at night they’re impossible to see unless my overhead kitchen light is on. I’ve had others in the past that had lighted buttons…so easy to warm up a dish for a late night snack without having to light the whole kitchen. KitchenAid, you could have the perfect appliance with a bit more thought toward how we really use a microwave.

          Efficient microwave
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had the unit installed for about 2 months now and my major objection to it is the lack of clear instructions on the use of the convection features. The instructions that come with the unit are woefully lacking.

              Our Secret Double Oven!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were very purposeful in purchasing this microwave with convection cooking as our kitchen layout couldn't accommodate a double oven. This literally creates a double oven option for us as we host our family for Thanksgiving and other holiday cooking events. What a space saving option; definitely something for buyers to consider when space considerations limit double oven configurations. A must buy!

My favorite microwave ever and I’ve had a few starting...
My favorite microwave ever and I’ve had a few starting with a Litton in the 70’s. The convection feature was a dinner saver for Easter dinner. It worked perfectly. The defrost cycle defrosts well without cooking the edges. The buttons respond with a very light touch and it’s seriously quiet. I purchased it on sale, which was sweet, but even at full price it’s worth it.

                Sensor Cook redefines frozen veggies
The very first thing we cooked in our new microwave was a steamer basket-load of frozen spinach. I figured we might as well run it through the wringer. The big surprise? The spinach was actually good! It was cooked to perfect tooth feel and doneness. The next morning I reheated my breakfast using the timer. I set it to five seconds less than my previous 1000 watt microwave. Again, it cooked all the way through perfectly. I haven't tried the convection option yet, and this is one of the reasons I knocked off a star. This appliance is in dire need of a recipe book or other 'acceptable use' guide. I had to turn to the internet to learn that it is okay to put metal into the device when using the convection-only option. It's in the manual, but the quick reference guide contraindicates it. Here are the exact quotes: Manual: "Metal bakeware may be used only during convection (bake) cycles" Quick Reference under Convection Bake: "Use the provided short convection rack and a microwave-safe, ovenproof baking dish." These instructions are contradictory, and a recipe guide could have clarified the confusion. The last reason I knocked off a star is that my template was off by 1/8th inch. There is no mention that there is excess space at the top of the rear template in the manual for a fascia. In fact, the manual indicates to shift the template down in case of a cabinet fascia. I ended up having to shim the top of the installation to ensure the weight of the microwave is borne by the studs in the wall and not the bottom of my cabinet. This provided a nice reveal all the way around, but not everyone will know how to shim to create this effect and there may be a lot of these hanging from the cabinets and not the walls because of this.

                  Convection vs air fryer
Does the convection option mimic an air fryer I was told it would.
