Questions & Answers

What type of fan system does this stove require?

I have an existing microwave/convection with built in fan over the place where this range would go. It draws a maximum of 300.2 CFM. Right now it is set to draw the air inside, but I can have it confgured to vent outside. Will this existing fan system work with this stove? Would it be best to vent outside? Or, do I need to get a new fan?
Asked by: Scott
We have a Kitchenaid Microwave/Convection (model KMHC319ESS) mounted over this stove with a six speed exhaust fan. It is vented outside. This was recommended by our dealer and it is working very well. We also added a Kitchenaid stainless steel back-splash to the range for additional safety. The powerful double light makes the task of cooking easier. The fact that the oven size is a bit smaller than a non-dual fuel range (due to superb insulation and the two types of components) makes the addition of a convection oven/microwave especially useful. I love this range and the whole set up.

The HD page says this is a slide in range. Can it be freestanding (no cabinets around it)? Are the sides finished? Are they painted to match the front?
Asked by: MrC
Hello KitchenAidTeam. The KitchenAid Website calls this a free-standing range. HD calls it a slide in. I can't find this range in any store near me, so this inconsistency might be a deal breaker and I'll have to cancel my order (the good thing about a long wait time!) https://www.kitchenaid.com/major-appliances/ranges/dual-fuel-ranges/p.30-4-burner-dual-fuel-freestanding-range,-commercial-style.kdrs407vbu.html

The installation instructions section titled 'level range' on page 17 includes the following instructions: "3. If range is not level, adjust the leveling rods. Turn leveling rods located behind the kick plate to level range and to raise or lower range to the desired countertop height." Are the leveling rods adjustable enough to raise the cook surface from 35.8" to my 36" in counter height?
Asked by: SleeplessInSeattle
Hello, 35 3/4" is the Cooktop height when sitting on the wheels. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our KitchenAid appliances!

4.1 cu. ft. Dual Fuel Commercial-Style Range with Convection Oven in Signature Red is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I’ve always wanted a commercial/pro style range but couldn’t justify spending the extra money on one. But I recently decided it was finally time to splurge and treat myself to something special. I’m so proud of it. I think it gives my kitchen that high end look. I love how quickly the burners come on and the precise control of the flames. A few negatives though... I’m a tad disappointed about the length of time it takes for the oven to heat up though, but once it’s finally ready, it does work great. Lastly, I wish the electronic control panel was different. It’s hard to keep clean, is super sensitive to touch. Still despite those two minor flaws, it’s [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as my old one.... In 1995, when my husband and I married, we bought a Kitchenaid dual fuel range. It lasted 24 years in the same house. When it finally quit, I bought another one, and I am so very, very pleased that I did. The workmanship is awesome, and it cooks beautifully. I did, however, have to look up the Sabbath mode--a lot has changed over 24 years! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 30" commercial style gas range with convection oven We had this range installed in our house over a year ago. We had our contractor take out a 30" cooktop, remove the bottom cabinet and cut the granite countertop to have this fit. We paired the range with the 9" backguard from Kitchenaid to cut down splashes onto our marble backsplash. I was amazed at how much difference this range made in my cooking. It has one powerburner (front left) and a simmer burner (back right) and the other two burners are pretty powerful, too. I love the convection oven (something I was missing as our current wall oven is merely electric.) If I had the room, I would have gone with the 36" inch version of this stove but as space would not allow, the 30" does a great job. I can use two 12" pans without having to juggle them around to fit on the burners. I do recommend the backguard, too, as it does its job and gives a higher end look to the whole stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Range Looked at DCS, Wolf, Viking, and KitchenAid. Consumer Reports scored the KitchenAid above the others and it was a bit less money to boot. KitchenAid has specification advantages in that it's dual fuel feature can run on a 30A service (instead of 40A+) and you get an extra set of burner jets for propane (if you move to the country). Unit has been bullet proof since installed 3 years ago at Thanksgiving. Burners give good even heat, plenty of adjustment, and the Power Burner has the BTU's to get a pot of water boiling (especially handing when canning). Electric oven is a gem. In regular mode (not convection) it cooks evenly with no need to rotate the pans during cooking. Slide out rack is a must have and the KitchenAid's is beefy and works smoothly even at temperature. Bread proof gives consistent proofing of breads winter or summer and is also a great feature. Broiler gives a consistent heat across a half sheet pan - this is not a point to gloss over when spec'ing an oven. Most have hot spots that require you to rotate pieces or rotate the pan. Careful though as it really pumps out the heat and you can burn the food if you aren't attentive. Made in USA. I cook lot and this unit has met all of my expectations. In fact, I was so impressed with KitchenAid quality I then bought one of their top of the line dishwashers. Another excellent unit I would recommend - you can hardly hear it running!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great appliance! Very easy to use, performs well and looks good. The oven is powerful and even, but a bit small. The burners are nice but the power burner is too large for even some medium-large pans - a dual ring burner would have been better for distributing heat. Only annoyance is the fan noise when the oven is on (not the convection fan).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range Very good gas range. Heavy and well built. One thing that could be better is the space in back for the gas hookup and electric outlet. It took my plumber several hours to get it to go all the way back to my backsplash tile. It is fine now so be sure to make sure the hookups are in the right place.
