Questions & Answers

When the oven door is shut, can you see the cooking food inside?

Asked by: Bessie
This ovens glass panel huge. The biggest KitchenAid has manufactured to date. Every shelf is visible through the glass when the interior light is on. The lights are located in the middle, on the left and right sides of the oven. The picture KitchenAid posted is how it really looks with the light on.

Fan

Some people have reported that the fan is noisy and runs after the oven is turned off. Is this only when using convection cooking or does the fan run after conventional cooking too? Typically the fan is used only for convection cooking, but I'm wondering if the complaints refer to a different fan.
Asked by: xina
That fan that some are referring to is the recirculation fan for convection cooking. It does run whether the oven is being used for regular or convectional cooking. Essentially it runs from the moment the oven is turned on and until the over cools down to about 100*. It does make a sound when it runs but it's far from what I would call noisy. We recently replaced a customer’s early 1980 era KitchenAid Supurba Convection oven with this oven. Those earlier models definitely had a noisy fan that came on only in convection mode. These ovens have their bottom-heating element concealed. It's one of the reasons the fan runs until it's cooled down. Ascetically It looks better, provides more interior volume, eliminates spills from adhering to the element and most importantly of all, cleanup is easy without the need to navigate around a heating element. Home Depot is the only retailer that has a few of these early Architect Series II ovens with the curved stainless handles in 27" & 30" widths. A few of the matching built in microwaves are also available. One of the nicer features of this oven, the last run of this series, is that they're equipped with the stunning blue interior color like the newer Architect Series (equipped with straight tubular handles). Our customer stayed with the KitchenAid due to the features and longevity of her previous oven. Since the 80's she discovered that her frozen lasagna and pasta dishes could be reheated with the sensor probe to a perfect 180* in convection mode. Her older model oven had an analog dial for setting the desired internal food temperature. / probe temperature. We were impressed because this new model shows the actual (live) internal temperature of what's cooking on the oven's display. This cooking option requires no timer. The oven beeps when the desired internal temperature was reached. Our customer planned well and threw one of her (frozen) baked ziti in the oven early that morning. This oven cooked / reheated it at ridiculously low temperature of 300* using the probe. Later in the afternoon when we returned for a dishwasher install, it was ready. It baked to perfection even though it was frozen solid earlier. Nice feature, nice customer, GREAT pasta!
