Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast, safe, nice but loud buzzing with dimmable LED lights We love showing our friends how quickly it can boil water. It's so kid friendly, as it isn't too hot after use. Also, teaching my kids to cook isn't as scary or dangerous without flames or hot heating coils. I would have given it a 5, but we're not loving the interference with the dimmable LED lights. When they're on, this cooktop buzzes loudly. The noise is the only negative thing about this product. We specifically chose this unit because of the bridging elements. We like to cook with a long skillet and no other induction cooktop had this (plus we wanted it bigger to fit multiple pans easily). Unfortunately, we have to find/buy an "extension plate" as our smallest pan can't be used (the cooktop doesn't recognize the pan, when it is smaller than the burner.) We did have to buy all new pans (if a magnet won't stick to your pan, it won't work on induction)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Show piece! I’ve been using my new cooktop for just over a month. It’s been a learning curve to say the least! First, i purchased the wrong cookware (stainless steel with an aluminum core will not work!). Second, I have cooked on electric my whole life but this induction business is a whole different ballgame. The heat is exact, efficient, and I’ve been burning a lot of my dry foods... it takes time to adjust. I am fairly tech savvy and still forget to select the correct burner sometimes before I try to alter the temp, easily fixable, just annoying. I love the way it cleans up so nicely with minimal effort! And everyone who sees it is impressed! What I do wish was different is that if you lift a pan off for just a few seconds to add water or drain grease... the burner turns itself off. I’m sure thats a safety feature, but I wish it gave you like 10 seconds or something. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failing after 10 months of use Purchased in Nov of 2014; however, I didn't install use until July 2015 due to construction delays. Cooktop worked fine for 6 months, then the random error codes started; shutting down unit. The error codes indicate a surface overheating condition (C2); this happens when the burners are at Medium (5-7). How exactly does an induction surface get too hot??? The pans get hot, not the surface. We even followed the crazy installation instructions by cutting ventilation slots for the cooling fans in the cabinet below during installation. I spent $8K on Kitchenaid's higher end series products for our house. After 10 months of use, I'm not too happy with the quality. Wall Oven - KEMS309BSS - OK Two Dishwashers - KDTE504DSS - One with a failed LCD screen Cooktop - KICU569XSS - See Above Cooktop Ventilation - KVWB606DSS - Missing screws, Kitchenaid refused to send - the screws were not available as a separate part number. On 2 occasions it has shut off spontaneously with no response from buttons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some issues We had owned an induction cooktop years ago and were excited that they seem to have made a comeback. However there are a few things to be aware of if you are in the market for one. First, even though I was aware of the requirement for specific cookware, some of the All Clad I had would not work with this unit. The top is too sensitive to the size of the pan you put on the burner. If the pan is a small one, it will not recognize it. Also, the large center burner is also very sensitive to the size of the pan that it will work properly with. I am not a fan of the finger tip control for heat on each burner. You have to slide your finger up or down to raise or lower the heat and if you are cooking on multiple burners you have to select each one individually before changing the heat. Just give me an up/down arrow and allow me to select it on any burner I want that has a pan on it without having to first select that burner. This is not something that you can test in a show room because none of the models are plugged in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Not happy with this product. From day one it hasn't performed as I was expecting. When cooking, unless the burner is set to over 6 it will not produce consistent heat instead it pulses off an on causing it to take longer to cook. So cooking consistently at a low temperature is not possible. The more burners I use the worse it is. I called customer service thinking it was maybe hooked up wrong or the power was not correct. However they came out and told me that because a cast iron skillet worked it was a problem with my pans. The Caphalon pans I purchased specifically for the cooktop and were some of their top of the line pans. So I contacted Caphalon about the pans and they had not had any issues and asked me to send them in to determine if they were defective and they were not. I also took my pans to a neighbors and tried my pans on their jenn-air induction cooktop and the pans worked like a dream. So after a complete remodel I am stuck with a cooktop I hate. Left more than disappointed. On one positive note I also purchased a Kitchenaid refrigerator and dishwasher that I have been very pleased with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! My wife and I were more interested in the aesthetics of the kitchen renovation than the actual appliances. The Kitchen Aid Cooktop literally caught us by surprise. It outperforms every conventional electric and gas range-cook top we have ever owned. Ease of use, convenience, and of course quality of product have impressed us. Personally, I am getting a kick out of showing off the features to my friends. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the best thing ever We furnished our new home with all KitchenAid products because we have had good results with our other KitchenAid products. However, our new 36" induction cook top has failed to live up to expectations. It is now four months old and has had several malfunctions but has been usable. Service has been a problem. Also, we planned on using the Bridge function which now we can not use because no one makes a grill/griddle for the induction top. We can find cast iron grill/griddles but they are heavy and course and will scratch the glass top so we will not use them. One reviewer stated that the induction will boil water fast. Well try to boil two pans of water and the cook top may quit on you. Disappointed with cook top, accessories and service.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for every day use...Not worth the money. This product is very fragile. Had a chip on the very edge and after 6 months a crack appeared making the item useless. I typically do not write reviews but we paid a lot of money for this product and when we called Customer Service, the person explained that they do not have service technicians in our area. So basically since we are still in our warranty timeframe we cannot get it serviced. Also that there are no replacement parts for these so we would need to purchase a new unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek and awesome I love this cooktop. It is fast, sleek and I’m so glad I opted not to do the stainless steel trim. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this cook top We thought we wanted gas but with you g kids building our dream kitchen changed slightly. However I have no regrets buying this cooktop. Nothing burns on to it like electric cook tops. I don’t have to remove grills and clean little parts like I would if I had gas and my kids can’t turn it on if it’s locked. But even if they do it won’t do anything unless there is a pot on the cooktop. This gives us peace of mind! Now as for cooking I have no regrets getting this over gas. It heats up so quickly. We love it. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small pots won't work I've been cooking on this cooktop for about 2 years now. I picked up a fairly inexpensive set of pans when I got it and never had a problem. I recently decided to upgrade my pans to non-stick. I bought the Cuisinart set that came with a 8" skillet and a 1 qt. pot neither of which worked. After going back and forth with Cuisinart and getting nowhere, I bought a set of All-Clad. This set came with a 2 qt. pot that won't work with the cooktop. I have since found several reviews stating the same problem with this cooktop. Sure would be nice if the Kitchen-Aide team could come up with a solution. Yes, I would recommend this cooktop to a friend, but with reservations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever cooking Purchased induction cooktop by KitchenAid six years ago during a major kitchen remodel I saw induction cooking back in the 1970s and was always intrigued. I did extensive research on the use of gas, electric and induction surface cooking. Induction is by far the most efficient, safe and responsive method of cooking. This smooth glass surface is so easy to keep clean and spills are a breeze to clean up. The controls are also bridge to use. I can just tap anywhere along the control and it’s selects temperature setting. Or I can slide along the control for the same effect. If I remove the pot I get a signal that the pot has been removed and the burner will turn off. However, when I replace the pot the burner setting is restored. With a glass surface there is the chance of scratching as someone mentioned in a complaint in one of the reviews. I knew through my research that you could cook with a dish towel or paper towel between the burner and the pan. So, I tried that technique this morning as I had done years ago when we first purchased the cooktop while frying eggs and that method worked just fine with no heating of the paper towel. There is one way to reduce the chances of scratching the cooktop. I have but one complaint. When I purchased our induction cookware, there is one 4 1/2” sauce pan that I am unable to use because the smallest burner is 7 inches. I wish there was a remedy for this problem. Aside from this I am completely happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far needs improvement It’s difficult to choose a power level, it’s difficult to see outline of where the pan belongs. It seems to cook favoring one side of pan.
