No size restrictions to activate burners?

Just to confirm, any pan that a magnet will stick to (no matter it's size) will work on ANY of the burners? Also, if water drips or spills on the control panel will the cooktop shut down?
Asked by: thehaymakerswife
Only the Thermador all induction cooktop allows any size pan and it's a whopping $5k. What you need to look at is the specs for the cooktop you are interested in. They should all show the sizes they support. Some require a 5 1/2" minimum pan diameter other may go down to 4" and they have a max.

Have model kcgs356ess gas cooktop in place. Cutout measures approx 34.25 x 19.375. Will this model KICU569XBL install in the existing cutout? How do I install the brackets with the existing cutout being slightly larger than the specs?

Architect Series II 36 in. Smooth Surface Induction Cooktop in Stainless Steel with 5 Elements Including Bridge/Dual is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 198.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought the Kitchenaid Induction cook top thinking it was going to be amazing, and with a normal... I bought the Kitchenaid Induction cook top thinking it was going to be amazing, and with a normal round pan that fits in the space of the burners, it is. Unfortunately for me, I specifically bought a model with the "Bridge Mode" for the burners, and quickly found out that Kitchenaid doesn't feel that people really plan to use this feature. The "Bridge Zone" doesn't actually have any way of heating the pan, so now I have an overpriced cook top that doesn't work as advertised. When I try to use the bridge mode with my griddle, the two round spots where the burners are heat just fine, but the space over the "Bridge Zone" is 200 degrees cooler than the burner zones making it completely worthless. I called Kitchenaid, and the representative I spoke with said it should work fine and scheduled a service call. When the service technician came out, he called their technical department and was told this is normal. If you are looking for a cook top without a Bridge Mode, get a cheaper model, because this isn't worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! My wife and I were more interested in the aesthetics of the kitchen renovation than the actual appliances. The Kitchen Aid Cooktop literally caught us by surprise. It outperforms every conventional electric and gas range-cook top we have ever owned. Ease of use, convenience, and of course quality of product have impressed us. Personally, I am getting a kick out of showing off the features to my friends. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast, safe, nice but loud buzzing with dimmable LED lights We love showing our friends how quickly it can boil water. It's so kid friendly, as it isn't too hot after use. Also, teaching my kids to cook isn't as scary or dangerous without flames or hot heating coils. I would have given it a 5, but we're not loving the interference with the dimmable LED lights. When they're on, this cooktop buzzes loudly. The noise is the only negative thing about this product. We specifically chose this unit because of the bridging elements. We like to cook with a long skillet and no other induction cooktop had this (plus we wanted it bigger to fit multiple pans easily). Unfortunately, we have to find/buy an "extension plate" as our smallest pan can't be used (the cooktop doesn't recognize the pan, when it is smaller than the burner.) We did have to buy all new pans (if a magnet won't stick to your pan, it won't work on induction)
