Questions & Answers

What is the width of this grill with both of the side tables down? I would like to get it assembled but not sure it will fit in the car. Thank you.

Asked by: Christine
I purchased it assembled and had to separate the legs from the top and that filled by Forester. I needed one seat in the back for my kid. Probably if I lowered both back seat I could have fit assembled.

Since all reviews complain about how horrible assembly is, will you arrange for the store to assemble it, if I order it sent to store?

After reading all reviews I sure do not want the problems every one has with assembly. Also since some have had dents this will clear this problem.

Unit seal pretty tight where little smoke escape from the sides. Charcoal height adjustable. Con: Terrible assembly instructions. 35 plus years as mechanical engineer I am familiar at looking at schematics. I took a while to not only read assembly sequence but future steps. Some tubes have additional screws and I needed to look at future steps to determine if these screws will be on the inside or out. Luckily only one part was not installed right The first time. All parts assemble with coarse thread screws, screwing into sheet metal parts which means you cannot put too much torque on screw or it will strip mating threads. I use lock tight on all screws so grill will not come loose over time. Smoke stack base was bent but I was able to straighten it out for proper assembly. Grease the bearings on the two rotating wheels so they will not rust and have smoother rotation. Overall well built grill and very good value for the money.

I received my Kitchen Aid Charcoal Grill a little over a year ago as a surprise gift from my daughters. I'm the type of person that takes very good care of things. As a matter of fact I kept my grill in a tough shed type building during the last winter, several months. What I noticed was "Rust" all over the top of the grill, I was concerned that maybe heat resistant paint may not have been used. I contacted Nexgrill who makes the grill for Kitchen Aid and was told one year warranty, period! If I wanted to order a new lid it would cost $119. I was so surprised I even sent pictures to show the grill is still new. It should not only last one year before it starts to rust away. I have nothing but Kitchen Aid products in my house because I know they are quality.....Nexgrill is sure not doing Kitchen Aid any favors by not producing a product that will last more than a year and not to stand behind it. I've tried contacting Nexgrill several more times but they will not email me back. (I was so proud of my new Kitchen Aid grill when I received it). Bob Elliott

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great cooking on grill but all bent and dented!!!! CAUTION! Grill comes in 53 pieces and took me and my teenage son over 2hrs to put together. Directions are almost useless and only 4 of the parts were labeled. We spent more time rereading the directions and figuring out which piece was which than actually putting it all together. Next comes the packing. It is packed in so much cardboard and plastic that you would think you were purchasing a government product. Yet there are so many dented and bent pieces that we had a hard time getting to all fit. The hood had big dents in it and the stainless steel handle is so dented that my parents thought i bought a used one. I have never been more disappointed in a purchase in my life. I love the way it cooks and how it holds the heat, but i tell you almost every piece was bent or dented in some way even the bottom tray by the wheels. If I did not spend most of a Thurday night putting it together, I would have taken all the parts back and purchased any other grill from somewhere else. I will try to upload pics if i can.

The top and front vent is great for heat control. Two side tables are better than one, and also have small pegs for hanging tongs, and turners etc.. The charcoal grate is very easily adjusted. It's nice to have the temperature dial. It rolls easily and also has an easy to use wheel lock. The spaces on the grill are wide enough to set sausage on edge without them tipping over so you get very uniform cooking. The warming tray is also a pleasant feature. There's a small tool that works excellently for moving the grill grates when hot. I have not found the smallest thing wrong with this grill and everything right about it. Also the price was very reasonable even though money is not a factor for me. I won't go back to Weber.

Cooked on it twice Mother's day weekend. hamburgera and steak.worked very well. Only thing I would do different is ash drawer does not have convenient way to empty way to dispose of ashes. Have to pull drawer completely out and try to find bag big enough to dump into. Needs to come with aah scoop.

A bit confusing only in one area. The grill looked great and for the money I am sure it would be a nice charcoal cooker for the weekend griller. The issue I had was in product cosmetics, fit, and the fact that it would not hold a long and stable temperature. The scratches and dints were numerous with a small hole when the thin tin was bend to form a joint. The alignment issue on the main burner box was horrible, but after a bit of pulling, pushing and twisting it was close to fitting somewhat better. For short grilling of hot dogs and hamburgers, I am sure this would be a nice grill. But for longer burns and trying to smoke a brisket, I would not recommend the grill. Customer service was nice and did try to help (including offering me a different grill box) In the end I returned the grill to Home Depot who were very gracious and went out of their way to assist me.

I particularly like the larger area for cooking, the warming tray in the hood, and the side tables where I can put everything (platter of cooking tools, food, marinade, etc.) I'm not particularly handy, but I didn't have any issues putting it together.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Design Flaw Due to the slot in the grill where the lever is to raise and lower the charcoal grate, you are not able to kill the oxygen supply when you close the lid and the vents, so you best leave a cold spot ( part of the grill where no charcoal is) when you use this grill or everything you grill will burn. They should have used a crank instead of a lever.
