Does the head lift so I can take bowl off?
Asked by: David
The head does not lift - there is an arm on the left side of the mixer (you can't see it here) that you use to lower and raise that arm that you see holding the bowl. That's how you remove the bowl. By the way, I LOVE my Kitchenaid mixer. Also bought a set of pasta attachments that I use frequently- and the difference between store bought and homemade is amazing!

Customer Reviews

Professional 600 Series 6 Qt. Nickel Pearl Stand Mixer is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 5172.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bigger is Best! I’ve owned three KitchenAid mixers in my life. This past Christmas I experienced using a 7 quart KitchenAid stand mixer that my friend was given. She didn’t even know it was a 7 quart until I saw it on her paddle. What impressed me was that it was so quiet compared to my KL5 Pro. I loved the size of the bowl before knowing it was a 7 qt too. I came home and told hubby about my experience with what we thought was a 6 quart. Later, sharing that it actually was a 7 quart! I told her... can I touch you? She said, why? I said, because you own a 7 quart KitchenAid stand mixer! I’m thrilled you are letting me experience it. Hubby surprised me with my 6 quart for Christmas. I’m quite pleased with my decision to upgrade to Pro 6 quart. I’m a Master Sugar Artist and I make huge batches of cake, frosting and cookie dough. I’m just going to have to invest in additional bowls and beaters! Thanks for the larger size and quieter machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful in so many ways This mixer is amazing. Exactly what I had ever hoped for in a high-grade residential mixer. It is quite heavy, but it is very functional. The attachments are very high quality. The bowl is lined up perfectly, the attachments are easy to attach/detach/use/clean. Very powerful. It shreds cheese better than a food processor. When grinding food, there is a fair amount left in the auger-chamber. Still have a lot of functions to test. In comparison, I already had the Artisan series mixer. It was very frustrating to use. The motor head would shake the pin out of place, this was a constant problem when the machine was in use. It was also a problem when moving the machine. DO NOT TRUST THE LOCK LEVER. The bowl never aligned properly since the motor head would shake, it would make a loud scraping noise as the attached paddle/whip, etc would hit the side of the bowl with each rotation. Rated 5 out of 5 by from All Around Workhorse This mixer is a fantastic addition to my kitchen. Whether in the bowl or with an attachment, this mixer sees daily work. The large bowl and strong motor make my prep work much easier. In the first two weeks, I've made breads, cookies, and muffins. With the help of the attachments, I've sliced vegetables and cheese, ground fresh meat, and made a couple types of pasta. I don't normally gush over an appliance, but this has become a very valuable tool in my kitchen. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Touch Me Not.... I have a classic Kitchenaid mixer I bought in 1990. I love it. Needs to be repaired now. I decided to buy another mixer and saw this model 600 on QVC. After I received it I read the instructions then made a loaf of bread and a batch of cookies. Dough hook had issues picking up all the flour from the side of the bowl. The flat beater did not touch the bottom of the bowl to cream the butter and sugar, I had to use a spatula on the sides of the bowl by hand. I made the necessary adjustments according to the instructions to raise the bowl but the flat beater still would not touch the bottom of the bowl like my classic 4.5 mixer does. I used the flat beater with the flex edge, the flex edge does not even touch the side of the bowl. I am very disappointed in this model. I went online and seen others have the same issues. Why does Kitchenaid still sell this with these issues? Making a larger flat beater and dough hook may resolve the issue. I have yet to try the wire whisk to whip egg whites... This is the second review for this mixer as the first one was never posted. I hate baking now because of the mixer. First of all I have to cream the sugar and butter by hand before it will even try to mix in the other ingredients. I used to love kitchenaid products but now I will look at other companies for my baking needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish it mixed better I love the stand aspect of this mixer and how I can add and measure as it I should mixing, I wish it did a better job of completely mixing all of the ingredients that I add. When I turn it off I have to mix by had to get ingredients on the bottom throughly mixed in. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, kind of.. Ive been saving up for a kitchenaid for a while now and finally got one this month. I've worked in professional bakeries and loved the way these get the job done and look nice in the process. I'm a little disappointed though in mine. I've used its twice now and the engine is so loud it's almost not worth turning it on. I let it run for a bit to let the oil turn inside the motor but it still won't go away. It sounds like it's working overtime to mix simple Banana bread and Ive never heard that in any other kitchenaid mixers I've used. Kinda disappointing as I've wanted this for so long. Other than the fact the motor is extremely loud and seems like it's working harder than it should, it gets the job done and looks beautiful in my kitchen! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely bigger... ...and more powerful. I bought this new model to replace the 37 y/o 4 quart KitchenAid mixer that was still running well but was starting to show it’s age. The new one will take a little getting use to, what with some of the changes that have been made over the years. One of them being the gradual build-up to speed to help prevent splattering after dry ingredients had been added. The one thing I have noticed, tho, simply because I have been a very long-time user of a KitchenAid mixer, is that it doesn’t seem to be as sturdy as my old mixer was. This happens a lot with newer, so-called “improved” products, no matter what they may be. Time will tell, tho, if it lasts as long as my old one has.
