Customer Reviews

Rotor Slicer and Shredder Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixers is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 155.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money I received this as a gift from my husband, thinking it was going to be lovely. I watched the video, read the instructions, had all the pieces and thought I would give it a try. Awful! I wanted to use it for potatoes and ended up potato water and had to throw everything in the trash. Every other vegetable I have tried in it has turned to garbage as well. I'm afraid to try anything else with this accessory.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing pieces Received as a gift, in box and new, and it is missing the shaft. Worthless.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Years of Use I have used this attachment for many years to grate parmesan/romano cheeses. I must admit that I don't use the other slicer/shredder cones. Over the years of use, the housing has developed a slight crack. Is it possible to order a replacement?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure I received this free by choice when I bought the mixer. It was this or the grinder. I have only used it for shredding so far. I will be testing on slicing this week. It shreds ok but I get chunks stuck between the housing and the metal shredder. Also have to be careful of where you place the bowl to catch because it does kind of go everywhere. I just hold the bowl up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Meh I bought this to shred cheese....it worked good for awhile....except the cheese did gum up between the housing and the shredder. Now the shredder flies out all the time and will not stay in the unit. A lot of money to get another one:(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A mess I received this as a Bridal Shower gift. When I tried to used it everything just got stuck between the blade and the outter casing. What a disappointment. I thought kitchenaid products would be better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A questionable attachment Well, I too bought the Roto Slicer/shredder with the intent of utilizing it for what the name implies, shredding vegetables. From what I"m reading it does that and a lot more, sheds and destroys most vegetables that com in contact with it. After washing and preparing several different types of veggies, I gave it a whirl, slow or fast the end result was the same, MUSH! Great if you want to peel potatoes, run them through the shredder then cook them for mashed. If that is your desire, this is a great machine to create mushy veggies. Carrots, same thing. And like anything and everything, what doesn't make it to the blade goes behind them and jams up the works, I mean really jams the thing then you have a problem of getting it apart to clear the jam only to have it happen again and again. OK, so let's address a solution. First, all the cones have a blade/cutting edge that is parallel to the hopper. The blade doesn't cut, it shreds whatever is placed into the hopper. Cones should have a spiral twist in the entire cone similar to a barber pole to allow the cone to cut. Increase the clearance in order to get between the cone and the housing to clear a jam yet reduce the clearance at the initial point of contact to ensure the items being cut enter the cone instead of sliding down between the cone and the housing. Speaking of the housing, hard plastic is a poor choice, even though it is probably made by injection molding. Try a layered fiberglass mesh that can withstand the torque developed when in use. The drive shaft should be supported in it's entire length with a seal on both ends to prevent food stuffs from entering the shaft and installed in such a way that if necessary can be easily removed and replaced. The entire Roto Slicer/Shredder is good in principal; however, there are several design flaws that once addressed will make this very useful attachment.
