This tool will never wear out judging by the build strength and how quickly the job gets completed. If you need to make even a single custom duct, this tool pays for itself.
A dryer duct needed to be cut down to proper depth through a block wall when transitioning from a flex duct to a dryer vent box to save the extra depth because the laundry room is tight. This crimper made the difference with this project—it took almost no time at all to make the necessary crimps to make things fit. DIYers and pros alike will find tremendous value in time savings alone with this tool.

Folks know Klein tools for their exceptional electrical tools, so it was surprising to me to find a Klein tool for basically HVAC round duct piping work. So with this crimping tool it is just as well made as their others. It has similar design to other brands with compound handle and heavy durable metal blades for crimping.
I also use a Wiss version 5 blade crimper, (See pic) so in comparison, the Klein tool crimper is larger in size and also has a crimping depth of about 1 1/2 inches. I don't normally crimp to that depth but if you ever had to on a job, this tool can do it. (See pic).
This is made in Taiwan, not China. (See pic). I have several other tools that are made in Taiwan and I find them well made too.
And you can see that construction wise it also uses plastic lock nuts (see pic).

It takes a bit of hand power to squeeze and...
It takes a bit of hand power to squeeze and the proper way to use it is with three blades on the interior of the duct and two on the exterior (counterintuitive for sure!). Use it properly and you’ll have effective crimped ends that look factory produced and are easy to fit. I’m very happy with this tool.
