My basement walls have 2x3 studs. Can I use this insulation if I compress it a little?

You'll want to peel off an inch of the insulation instead of compressing it. It will fit if compressed, but you will lose more R value than if you peel off a layer.

You should only use one vapor barrier. If you use sheeting you should remove the kraft paper from the insulation. Else, moisture can collect between the vapor barriers.

If you have 2 x 4 walls it is what you need provided your basement is reasonably dry. If you have a wet basement you would probably be better using polystyrene.

I would recommend using ridged polystyrene because of the potential of humidity causing mold. If you use fiberglass you would have to use a poly vaper barrier against the block.

This doesn’t seem to itch you as bad as the pink or yellow stuff! Cuts easily with scissors or razor knife, does not fall apart once it is cut. Expands to height stated on package or slightly higher. Over the past year I have used this product for insulating my garage, some areas in my basement, and attic. Very happy with this product. Great sound deading ability!

(What's this)
First, I am a DIY kind of person. I have had limited experience with insulation, so I read up a bit before starting this project. I was told when we moved in the house by a home inspector that the attic space would be better if I changed the loose fill insulation that they crammed between the plywood flooring and the ceiling with batting. While I may get better results with a higher rated R value for this project, this is what was available to me. My attic space allows me to put two bats down between the floor and the plywood. I just make sure to take the vapor barrier off of the top layer to allow it to breathe. I am not seeing any current issues with moisture in the loose fill, so I do not expect any issues with this batting. It was a perfect fit for my needs as I am on 16" spacing. I am not cramming it in the floor as there was enough room to place one on top of the other without cramming it down. I have worn the necessary protection while installing, gloves, long sleeves, mask, etc... I can say there really has not been an issue of dust or insulation just sticking to me. I do think it is true that this is a dust free insulation based on my experience. I can tell that 8 ft pieces are perfect fit for a standard wall. While I am using it for the attic floor, it appears I may have enough left to go around the walls in the stairwell to the bonus room. Curious to see how improved that may make the fluctuation in the temperature of the hallway and bonus room. I liked the fact that this is ECO insulation as well. This is definitely well suited for standard walls, 8ft high on 16" spacing. Seems to be a good quality product.

I noticed first off is the dark brownish color. not the usual pink or tan. maybe that is the recycled content ? it does feel softer to the touch and i did notice somewhat less particles in the air. as to the performance it seems fuller than some i have used which i think would add to the insulation performance. im using it in a 22x16 garage with 2x4 walls. so i will defiantly be able to feel the difference it creates. Kraft facing is heavy along with staple flanges. perfect for full length 8' wall cavities and cuts easily with utility blade.

Thank you for asking about the brown product. Our product is naturally brown in color due to no artificial colors or dyes added. We also manufacture using recycled glass that would normally go into landfill. KnaufInsulation

Thought I wanted the pink stuff. Habits... All that was available was this ECOBATT product. Really glad that was the case. This stuff works really well and is (as is claimed) really itch-free! I forgot to wash up after a day of applying it in a new enclosed porch. Went bike riding, and didn't notice at all. Don't think I'd have had that experience with pink.
