If your garage is 8’ high, one roll will fill 4 area between the studs. So how many stud bays do you have....? Two 18’ walls and a17’ wall will have 53’ of total wall length, divided by 1.3 (16”/12”) gives you 40.75, or 41 bays. So you might be able to do it with 10 rolls, but I would buy at least 11.

How many rolls to do a 8x10 room

If your rom is 8’ high, just take the total circumference of the room 36 (8+8+10+10) and divide by 1.33 (this is the 16” stud spacing in feet) and you get 27 spaces between the studs. A roll will fill 4 spaces so 27/4= 6.7, so you will need 7 rolls.

yes, but you cannot leave insulation exposed.

How much would I need for 17x28 room with 8ft walls? I would also need ceiling done.

Asked by Pj August 27, 2020

Answers

17X28 = 476 sq ft. 476/40(sq. ft. in roll) = 12 rolls You may want to look at R13K15X94 batts as they are pre cut to 8' so there is no cutting. You would need 5 bags at 116.25 sq. ft. Pre cut batts result in less labor to install. For your ceiling, recommendation would be R30 - R49 depending on your local codes.
