Foam, not fiberglass, is the right choice The old-fashioned way of insulating a crawl space was to install fiberglass batt insulation between the exposed joists in the crawl space. Fiberglass is cheaper than other types of insulation and also widely available. However, its tendency to absorb moisture, support mold, harbor mice, and sag or fall out of place are all negative qualities that argue against its use in crawl spaces. The best insulation material for crawl spaces is rigid foam insulation board. Instead of installing the foam insulation between floor joists in the crawl space, the foam board is installed against the crawl space foundation walls. Unlike fiberglass, rigid foam insulation does not absorb water, support mold or allow air to pass through (providing that joints between boards are sealed with tape).
I'm not sure but it will work
Home Depot may have decided to eliminate this SKU at this particular store. This is not a discontinued item by the manufacturer.
faced insulation has a paper/vapor barier attached to the insulation. The paper side is toward the inside of the house (paper is closest to the heated &cooled side of the house)
If you want to. Typical wall insulation (depending on your location) is R13. R19 is typically used for joists (attic or ceiling). Cheaper to buy r13 but if you want better insulation r19 will work.
If you install fiberglass insulation in the crawl space, be sure to put 4 mil poly on the ground to prevent moisture in your crawl space. Always put kraft facing to the warm side of the home.
Please check your local building codes but generally R13 to R15 is acceptable in wall cavities in Zone 3. If you have 2X6 studs, we would recommend an R19.
Please check with your store to see if they stock this item and then you may purchase in single rolls. To ship from homedepot.com, the minimum purchase is 12 rolls.
Rolls are easier to use in long runs in the ceiling.
The price is based upon square feet. R19 kraft 15"x39.2' has 48.96 sq. ft. per roll and the batts are 97.92 square feet per bag. The R19 batts has 10 pre-cut batt pieces per bag so it will fill 10-8' cavities.
