I recently installed this fill valve, and it works properly but is very noisy.

After installing the valve as instructed, it squealed like a stuck pig while filling. I opened the refill valve to relieve some back pressure and the squealing stopped.

Lower it all the way down, that will make the water level lower. Not sure if it will be "half" but much less depending on the height of your tank.

HOW TO STOP THE WATER FROM RUNNING WHEN NOT USING TOILET

Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news, but... I have the same issue with Korky fill valves. One thing you can attempt is to close the supply valve slightly or mostly to lower the incoming pressure/volume. This looked promising for me but ultimately didn't work either. Honestly, the only way I've found that will fix this problem is to replace the Korky with a different brand of fill valve. I've had at least 3 Korky valves and they all have this same problem. I'm done with Korky and can only suggest that you use a different brand. These units just seem to be of poor quality. I'd say hopefully you've had the unit a short enough period of time such that you can return it for a refund/credit/swap but I just now looked at the date of your question...

How do you lower the water level in the toilet?

Re-adjust the height of your valve. You do this by holding the bottom of the valve and turning the top counter-clockwise, then gently push down on the valve. When you get to the level you want, turn the top of the entire valve clockwise until you hear or feel it click.

What is the rated water pressure?

Asked by Pasture February 27, 2016

I am on municipal water and at the bottom of a hill, so my water pressure is also relatively high. I have attempted to use Korky (and the <$30 Fluidmaster) units and they do NOT tolerate my water pressure. They fail within a year by not fully shutting off the valve (dripping, hissing, and screaming constantly, while also running up my water bill. One of my Korkys right now won't shut off even when it's fully submerged (see photo) - even though the float works/moves freely and I've cleaned and serviced all the internal parts. These valves just don't work very well - certainly with increased pressure. I do NOT recommend this unit if you have higher than normal pressure based on my experience over several years and several units.

Will the Korky 528cm fit the ST743E TOTO-Drake toilet

Yes, you will be quite pleased. Get the whole kit ($10.56) Home Depot, as long as you have the toilet open go ahead and replace the very flexible flapper. (item # 818) Simple directions. Clear & concise. You can usually do it your self. I am a nerd, but I completed the project in 30 min. Don't over think it.

I have had several of these and will not have anymore. No matter the toilet in the house that I have put them in, they fail within a year or so and really never work completely satisfactorily even from the start. The unit in the photo is about to be replaced as it leaks through the valve - even after having fully disassembled, cleaned, serviced, and carefully reassembled it - constantly resulting in dripping, hissing, and outright howling/screaming when not in use. Running up my water bill nonetheless... It is hard to tell from the photo but the unit is COMPLETELY submerged and water is draining down the overflow pipe. The float in the unit moves freely; it just simply fails to shut the fill valve off. I'm done with Korky products and recommend others stay away from them. Avoid wasting your money and a lot of your time messing with something that is likely never going to work. At least that's been my experience with no less than 3 of their units. I'd be remiss not to share if I can help you save $ and time.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
Installing this flush valve took me ~ 20 minutes total. No special tools needed and all the parts were in the box. I'll need to admit that I 'cheated a bit' on the time estimate since I got my bucket, towel, sponge and channel lock pliers (just in case) ready to go for the project the night before. This installs just like any other flush valve I've replaced, more than 10 in the last 30 years. I'll offer some hints that may be of help: 1) You may need the channel lock pliers to shut off the water supply line. I've installed jacketed flexible supply line long ago, and I'd suggest you install one. This makes subsequent repairs much easier than a solid copper / plastic line... and they always line up! 2) Just in case you need to know, the nut holding the flush lever has left hand threads. Why, I don't know. 3) If you are replacing a similar fill valve pre-set the height and float valve on a table before installing it in the tank. This one has an index line to set the proper fill level. I also install the bowl fill tube and clip before installing it in the tank. Just easier that way. 4) Most tanks have a 'fill line' already indicated in the tank. Use it to set the water level if in doubt. 5) I'd also suggest replacing the 'flapper valve' at the same time. Since you have +90% of the effort done, the tank is empty and clean, another $5-$9 part is a worth it. It's quiet and quick filling.

Adjustable Height Fill Valve
I have an old Case toilet that I refurbished. Case went out of business decades ago and parts are expensive. The tank is only 10 inches tall and I needed an adjustable valve. I 'Watney'd' the tank with my Dremel, installed this, and it works great.

(What's this)
I got this flush valve to replace an old one that would take it upon itself to run for a few seconds several times daily. Installation was pretty straightforward, as is common when replacing plumbing parts the hardest part was removing the old valve. A feature I really like is the tank level adjustment, which is the easiest one I've seen yet. Instead of having to bend rods or fool with an adjusting screw, you simply turn the installed valve about 1/8 turn and move it up to down to adjust the water level. Turn in the opposite direction and the valve is locked! This valve is also very quiet compared to others I have used, first flush I thought I hadn't turned the water on, it was so quiet.

(What's this)
This fill valve is very quiet and very easy to install. The height easily adjusts from 7 3/4" to 13 1/2" to fit most all toilets. Fits all two piece toilets and most one piece toilets. There is an internal float that makes installation easier, takes up less room in tank, no float sliding up and down or getting in the way. Also, has a strainer within it to catch sand and sediment for a longer life. It has a twist-lock adjustment for easy installation. This valve is recommended for problems with running toilet, noisy toilet, no or slow refill, no or weak flush, or too much/too little water in the bowl. It is an anti-siphon design. This valve is made of plastic but seems to be high quality, durable material. Made in the USA!!! 5 yr warranty. Go to www.korky.com for more info and installation video.

(What's this)
Korky QuietFILL Fill Valve is a great full valve - perfect for any toilet! it had really easy instructions to follow and completely seamless installation. Worked perfectly on the first flush after installing and does not seem to take too long, make too much noise, or really use a whole ton of water. The Korky QuietFILL Fill Valve takes it back to the basics without being too fancy.
