Product Overview

The Kreg Jig R3 is the perfect solution for any homeowner who builds projects with wood. With the Kreg Jig R3, you can make home improvements, build bookcases and shelves, storage projects, make lasting repairs, and much more. The Kreg Jig R3 can be secured to the work piece with any standard bar clamp or C-clamp. In addition, the R3's Clamp Pad Adapter allows the jig to be attached directly to any Kreg Face Clamp for faster and more repeatable pocket holes. From thin drawer boxes and craft projects to stout 2 x 4s, this jig can handle just about anything. Independent Positioning Sliders feature nine depth settings, allowing you to easily join materials from 1/2 in. to 1-1/2 in. thick in 1/8 in. increments. Comes with a durable carrying case to keep materials organized and to make sure that you always have the tool, drill bit, and screws on hand to complete your next project. To set the jig properly, simply depress the button on the side of the jig and move the sliders so your material thickness is aligned with the arrow on the jig body. It's that easy.

    Call the seller The one I have is the best purchase I have made in a long time. I use that more than I use complete kit. I have drilled thousands of holes with the original bit. Only thing I can think of applying to much pressure and not drilling straight in. Or drill has to much torc, lower it down. Will work fine for you.

    1" is enough. The grey porrion of the jig is adjustable to work with different thickness of wood.

    To the extent any screw could do it I suppose yes. However, my experience is that screws don't hold well there.

    The slides on my R3 are VAry hard to move is this normal? How do You remove the clamp pad adapter?

    I'm not sure about the side load rating of the screws but if you are building this platform bed for an adult, the load should be resting on at least one load bearing post. The platform itself can be built using the jig and screws then the platform corners should come to rest on top of support beams (at least one) depending on your design. Especially if, as you stated and I'm quoting " I'm a big guy". Hope this helps.

    The only other things you need are a drill and a clamp to keep it from moving.

    Worked wonders for my projects
    Bought this jig to conceal the screws for the face frames of the cabinets I built. This jig worked great. Using the clamp, you can attach it securely to the jig without having to constantly reposition it. The adjustments were somewhat a pain due to having to lift up the hard plastic piece that secures it. Other than that, this is a pretty handy tool.

    Great Jig
    This is a great jig for a DIYer, hobbyist and the professional. Its a great kreg jig to get atarted in but still very useful for professional to get in tight areas or difficult to reach areas. Super easy to set up and use. A definite must for woodworkers

    My Daughters bought me one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago and I love it. Now that I have a partner in "crime" helping me with projects having only one of these is not working. She's waiting to use it or I'm waiting to use it. So, I purchased a new one so she could have her own. The Kreg absolutely changed the way our projects look and makes the work a lot cleaner and sturdy. I've gotten so good with it, I'm building cabinets now...Whoop whoop!

    Easy to use, easy to adjust for the board thickness. Be sure to grab a Kreg clamp... I didn't, but found that a regular screw-type clamp I had laying around worked just fine, it just made the process a longer than if I would have had a one-step clamp to use. I was able to make several holes for four simple bar stools in a matter of a couple hours. The joints ended up tight, sturdy, and strong.
