What type of screw do i need to join mdf material

You can use the screws that it comes with, but you should use an adhesive in the hole for a better bond if you are working with mdf

Yes, it would be used the standard way, with a hole drilled in the back of a picture frame. The only question would be if the frame material is thick enough to receive the angled hole and screw.
