Q:Stain and 3 coats of ?Satin? Helmsman was applied to exterior Timbers. It?s a bit too glossy. Might this product lessen the gloss?

Does the job Deglosser
This deglosser does the job. I've refinished several kitchens with wood stained cabinets and a lacquer finish. I applied this product to both sides of the cabinet doors, drawers and face frames following the directions. It's honestly hard to tell if it's working because there's still a sheen on the wood after applying but the proof is in the results. The cabinet doors and drawers painted up beautifully! Smooth, even coverage. Had I not used this deglosser I wouldn't have the results I did. Easy to apply. No strong smells. Safe to use with your hands. Does the job. Attached is a picture of the kitchen cabinets I recently refinished using this deglosser. The original finish was that classic orange peel. Before and after included.

It works!
I obtained this product to prepare a door and trim that I wanted to repaint. The door had been painted or varnished with an ugly brown color and it had a glossy surface, so the previous owners might have used a high-gloss paint or varnished it. Anyway, I didn't want to go through the trouble of sanding everything, so I used this product, and indeed "brown stuff" came off my door (see pictures) and you can definitely tell the surface got less glossy. I used the product per the instructions, pouring a bit of it on a lint-free cloth and applying it in circular motions to my door and trim. I let it dry after the first application, and then did the process again with a clean cloth and still more brown stuff came off, albeit less so than the first time. The next day, I went ahead and started painting the door and trim and the paint I used (a high-gloss oil-based paint) adhered beautifully and covered well. I'm not sure if I would've gotten the same result had I not used this Gloss-Off product. The product does indicate that it's an eye and skin irritant. Fortunately, I didn't get any in my eyes, but I did get some on my hands as did not have work gloves on, however, I had no problem with my skin getting irritated from this product.

The solution was easy to use, had no strong smell,...
The solution was easy to use, had no strong smell, and removed the gloss and grime from the piece of furniture I was refinishing.
