A:  Great question, Bernie! Yes, the surface can be painted again after removing the previous paint. Make sure Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Latex Paint Remover is rinsed from the surface and that the surface is allowed to dry before repainting. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

    Answer This Question

A:  We appreciate your interest, Steve! While Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Latex Paint Remover will help remove latex paint on most surfaces, we do not recommend it for use on painted surfaces, as it can dull the existing finish on the factory applied paint. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

          Let it soak
Good product. I was getting sick from the insane strong chemicals in regular paint stripper so I grabbed this. It works great if you put your item in a plastic wrap after spraying it down. Then wait an hour or two and the paint will peel right off. Worked on my air grille.

I bought this to clean spilled paint on my slate floor in the kitchen. It was recommended by the paint guy at my local store. To my surprise, it not only cleaned off the paint it also cleaned the floor! We've had the floor over 10 years so it probably had alot of gunk on it... This cleaner made our floor new again. I ended up on my hands and knees cleaning the entire floor. I sprayed and wiped in a circular motion. The paint is gone and the floor looks new again. I will definitely purchase again. It does have a strong scent.

Was attempting to remove latex paint from metal cabinet knobs. It was not able to effectively loosen paint in crevices of knobs. Called 800# and received a refund check about a week later.

I have had a few 45 year old painted air vent registers that I have needed to strip and repaint, but I've been dreading the idea of removing the paint. When I saw this Latex Paint remover that claimed to be low VOC and biodegradable, I was skeptical, but figured it was worth trying. I am very pleasantly surprised by this product. It was easy to spray on, with a consistency similar to water, but with a slick or slightly oily feel to it. It only has a very mild odor, similar to a faint acetone smell. After letting it sit on the old crusted paint, I didn't see any bubbling or flaking or signs the paint was separating from the metal. But when I started scraping the paint with a stiff putty knife, the paint started to peel off in sheets. 3 layers of old latex paint, as well as the original factory paint, scraped right off the registers, and I easily hit bare metal. I did hit some patches of paint that were more stubborn, so I had to spray a few spots multiple times, but this paint remover worked surprisingly well. I did have to do quite a bit of scraping with the putty knife to get the paint off, but the paint remover spray definitely helped the paint lift off of the metal and soften. The old paint was not melted or gooey or sticky. It just peeled up and almost crumbled. While the paint remover did definitely help, there were lots of hard to get to surfaces on the air registers that made them very difficult to scrape. So while this product worked best for the slightly larger flat surfaces that I could scrape easily, I am wondering if there are other products that can help with items having an irregular shape or harder to reach areas. The bottle does warn that the chemical vapors are harmful and the product is toxic, so definitely read the label and follow the instructions.

A friend loaned to me his expensive commercial type airless paint sprayer which I used for my project. I wanted to return it better than I found it and as it had proof of many paint jobs due to the accumulation of latex paint all over the spray gun, hose, pump, cart, etc., I decided to try Krud Kutter latex paint remover. Being the dried on paint had been there for years, it took quite a bit longer soaking everything (think overnight) and quite a bit of elbow grease, but in the end, it looked brand new. Needless to say, I get to use the sprayer anytime I need it. Thanks Krud Kutter.

IMPRESSIVE - I was pleasantly surprised how well this stuff works. I had doubts at first. I was painting some plant stands I had built for my wife. No matter how careful I was I managed to get some white latex paint on my concrete/brick paver stones. I used a conventional spray cleaner with a stiff nylon brush minutes after. Most of the paint came up but it left behind a swirl/haze of paint. A week later I used this stuff as directed waiting a few minutes after I sprayed the area and used a stiff nylon brush. Then I rinsed the area with the garden hose. Almost all of the residual (99%) was removed. You can hardly see anymore residual paint stains.

Finally a clean up after I paint. I am a great painter, but I drip once and a while, sometimes I don't notice them for weeks. So when I have to clean that spot that regular water will not work i will use this. It works on fresh or week old dried paint of any color latex. It will work on most any surfaces indoor or out. The trigger spray is powered by your finger, so a hard squeeze or soft squeeze will determine the spray area. When applied, be generous and wait three to four minutes and wipe. Afterwards, just a little soap and water to finish up. 24 ounces will last a long time. Makes mistakes go away.

Oh no, not something we like to hear, Bill. Oh no, this is not what we like to hear! Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Latex Paint Remover is perfect for cleaning up paint spills or roller splatter, and removing dried latex paint. Apply Krud Kutter to dried paint and wait 3-6 minutes or until paint loosens, a brush may be required on porous surfaces. Repeat if necessary.

Most of the paint came off using this spray, a rough sponge and elbow grease. It also took off the stain so had to do some touch up (luckily I had some leftover stain). I’m happy with the results.
