So I'm confused, do I have to purchase a hub as well for this to work?

The Kevo Convert works with the Kevo app within Bluetooth range and a hub is not required for connection within 100 feet of the lock. If you'd like to have remote access to the lock, you can purchase the Kevo Plus Hub: https://www.kwikset.com/kevo/plus
Can 30 seconds autolocking be changed to 3 or 5 or 10 minute autolocking? (For use in residential building in a room where people sometimes forget to lock a dead bolt upon exit).
The Kevo auto-lock function can only be set to lock in 30 seconds after the Kevo has been unlocked.
How do i change battries
The top part slides up and off. Then just pull out the battery holder from the top and reload the batteries in it.
You'll have to remove the screws (sides and the one at the bottom), then remove the lock (the block) and slide the battery cover. Takes a few minutes.
Please follow the steps below to replace the batteries in the Kevo Convert: 1. Remove side screws with the 3/32 Allen wrench or Phillips head screwdriver and remove the battery cover. 2. At the top of the interior assembly, you will see the word “Door.” This is the battery holder, slide it up and out from the interior assembly. 3. Install 4 new AA batteries in the battery holder. 4. Re-Install battery holder into the interior assembly and re-install cover.

can this be used on a Single sided deadbolt? just to be clear there is no key entry on the outside part of the door you can only lock it from the interior of the apartment. There is no extra hole on the outside of the door either. Its a patio door in a strata so I am not allowed to put another hole in the door. Thanks
The Kevo Convert connects to a compatible deadbolt and cannot be used as a single-sided deadbolt. The one we purchased is a through bolt - it does require an installation hole completely through the door.
can you wave your hand and open the lock
The Kwikset model #925 KEVO CONVERT 15 is only the interior side which converts your mechanical lock to a smart lock so you can lock and unlock the door using your phone, therefore, you will not be able to wave your hand to open the unit. If the regular Kevo touch lock is purchased you will need to touch the rose to lock and unlock the door, Kwikset will not have a lock where you can wave your hand to unlock or lock the door.

No, I was very unhappy with this lock especially for the price. I would look into other brands. Nice to have the backup keypad to manually type code, this device does not have that. You have to have great WiFi. WiFi has to be working and you have to stay logged into their app or load it up in order to open door. Not efficient at all. Even with all that working sometimes it just is slow. I’ve moved to a different style.

To monitor my lock or to receive notifications on my phone when im away in another location do i need another divice in order to check the status on my phone ? Besides having internet service on my phone and where ever the convert is installed or do i need to purchase something else?
I needed the bluetooth adapter from kevo plugged into my home router before I could check it via an internet connection. I forget what the official name of the device is. I think it is the kevo plus..
Kevo sells a device that plugs behind a router (forgot the name). I believe it is a Kevo PLus? This device allows to operate the lock from anywhere. The lock in itself is just bluetooth.
I have not done this, but I believe you must have the hub to connect outside or Bluetooth range. This lock connects to your control device through Bluetooth not WiFi, consequently you can't connect directly to the lock when you're not within Bluetooth range.

We're here to help! To fix this, please ensure that the deadbolt was installed with the latch in the extended position. Next, replace the batteries and perform the manual handing process.
1. Open the door and extend the latch to the locked position.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Press and HOLD the Program button while reinserting the battery pack. Release button once the battery pack is installed. The status LED will flash red and green.
4. Press the Program button once more.
5. The latch bolt will retract about halfway in and then extend to learn the orientation of the door. Also please ensure that you are using name-brand alkaline batteries, avoiding lithium and rechargeable batteries. Measure the door frame jamb hole to ensure that it's at least 1 inch deep for the latch to extend fully.
