Love it!! Works perfect and looks great.

Great lock. I have never done an install of a doorknob, lock, etc. However, this was easy. Directions were easy to follow and the installation was simple. The lock looks great and works very well. I installed three of them. My family loves it. It's so easy to lock and unlock now. My 7yr old takes charge when we leave or get home as she loves to lock and unlock the door now. I have to change out doorknobs now as they have twist locks in them and we have accidentally locked those a couple of times which makes this keypad a bit useless. :) Given the quality and the long screes they supply for making the deadbolt very solid, I don't see a need for locks on the knobs too. Great product. We did not really care about wifi or remote usage. I have remote control of my garage doors so I can let people in that way.

This operates well and has the modern style we wanted. Matched with the halifax smart key entry handle. Very happy we didnt shell out extra $90 for the bluetooth smartphone option, really appreciate the ease to program and locking function is sturdy and consistent. 4 AA Battery operated easy to access though the screws are pretty small.

Very easy to set up and everyone has their own code, recommend for school age children. We have lost plenty of keys but not anymore. Nice sleek look for elegance but very affordable.

This is a great lock, it was easy to install and has wonderful features. I wanted a keypad lock for our front door but did not want a smart lock that attaches to the internet. While I like some of the features of a true smart lock I was concerned about someone figuring out a way to hack it and unlock the door, with this lock I have the convenience of the keypad without the worry of the smart lock. When we go on morning walks I prefer not to take a key with me and I love being able to get back into the house by using the keypad. I also liked that I could re-key the lock myself even though this did not work correctly for me. The directions were not the clearest but using them I was able to figure out how to install the lock, it is actually quite easy. The re-keying gave me troubles. I followed the directions and was able to re-key the lock to my current key but I could not get it to pass the test of not being able to remove the key when it was in the horizontal position. I tried this many times and it always failed the test. According to the website this could be caused due to a worn or possibly miss cut key. I tried multiple copies of the same key and they all failed. Finally I gave up and took it to my local locksmith, he has installed many of these Kwikset Smartkey locks and immediately said my lock had a bad cylinder. To prove it to me he installed another cylinder into my lock, we re-keyed it to my key and it passed without any problems. He said I could contact Kwikset and they would probably send me a new cylinder or for a charge I could keep his cylinder and he would take care of getting a replacement. He did not have a cylinder of the same color but I did not mind the different color and I gladly paid him. I love my local lock shop. To unlock the door from outside simply enter the four digit code that you program, you can set up to 16 different codes. To lock the door from the outside simply press the lock button, you do not need the four digit code. The keypad is backlit, very nice at night. The lock requires 4 AA batteries, they are not included. From the inside the lock works like any normal deadbolt. You can configure the lock so that it automatically locks after 30 seconds. The fit and finish on the lock is terrific and it comes with a lifetime finish and mechanical warranty. Once again I really like this lock and if it was not for the cylinder problem I would have considered this lock perfect. This is a great looking, easy to install, and easy to use lock. Installation – Installation of this lock was quite easy, with only a few more steps than the installation of a standard deadbolt. If your door already had a deadbolt it will be even easier. The only setting I had to change for install on my door was to shorten the bolt length to match our door. It also includes and adapter ring for doors with smaller holes for the deadbolt, which I did have to use for our door. After removal of our old standard deadbolt it only took around 5 minutes to install the deadbolt onto the door and replace the strike from the brass one we had to the new one. I did have to drill new holes for the strike plate as the new ones uses 4 screws instead of the typical 2 screws, with two of the screws being extremely long and thus much more secure as they would go through the door jamb as well as the stud(s) against the door. Setup (Hardware Lock) – The Kwikset SmartKey is an extremely useful feature. As we installed this lock first, we still had the doorknob lock as well as our backdoor with the old key. Using the SmartKey feature I was able to match the new lock to our old keys for the time being to avoid having two different house keys. A few days later I installed a Kwikset entry doorknob with the same feature as I was so impressed. I also rekeyed it to use the old keys as well. This means I now have to unused sets of keys I can switch to in the future if I so desire. Setup (Code Entry) – Codes are easy to set on this lock, and following the instructions it doesn’t take long to setup multiple codes. I did find a few annoyances though with the programming. First of all they recommend the use of a Master Code, and then give you nothing further on how to set it up or even find directions for it. I found instructions online after looking on the box and it isn’t complicated to setup so I don’t know why they couldn’t just print it in the installation guide as an optional step or separate section. Secondly, you have to remove the cover on the interior of the door to program the lock. It is held in place with three screws. The two side screws are easy to remove, but the bottom screw is hard to access due to the doorknob being right under the lock on most doors. As I plan on programming a master code and adding a few more user codes for my daughter, I left that screw off for the time being. Despite these issues, I still am happy with the easy programming of this lock. Appearance – This lock looks great. We are planning on refinishing our old dingy door, but despite this it still looks 100% better than our old brass deadbolt. It looks even better now with a doorknob in the same finish. Final thoughts – This is a great lock. I was so impressed in fact by the SmartKey feature and the finish that I went and bought a matching doorknob with the SmartKey feature to match even though I was going to wait a few months until the door was re-finished. We no longer have to worry about being locked out of the house. Additionally with the 30 second re-lock feature we don’t have to worry that we didn’t lock the door at night or when we have left on a trip. This peace of mind makes this lock worth it all on its own.

Must have for any home owner. I have about 4 of these around my house. I have not used a key to open my house in years. Installation took about 15 mins if that. When installing the deadbolt at first i was worried because it didnt seem to fit. But this is made for thinker doors as well. I just needed to twist the bolt holster and it went right in. It did not come with the 4 AA batteries which i was shocked. For the price it should be included. What i like about this is that the deadbolt closes itself. So make sure you have a good connection with the door jam.

Being safe with style along with easy to install and set. All a person has to remember is the pass number. There’s a convenience of using this electronic lock versus a key lock and they are several. Easier access to home, better security, and no “hidden” key that could be found. Just remember the number pass code with an easy memorization technique. There are several techniques to do this which you can ask the internet for your favorites. Another great reason is to use the SmartKey where you insert a pin to change the lock to the key you want. Meaning you can have all your locks for one key. This bolt lock is a stylish was to enter your place.

When locking the door from the outside by hitting the lock button, the deadbolt will lock and then quit working. So you can’t unlock it to reenter your home. Ive had to take it apart completely and reassemble for it to start working again. Absolutely do not recommend.
