"Made from malleable iron that offers watertight joints". what kind of application besides plumbi...
Asked by Dee August 26, 2020That info about watertight joints isn't on the page anymore, if that was at the top of the page it was probably added by Depot and not the manufacturer. The overview father down the page says it's not to be used for plumbing and is decorative only, that's the information from the company that makes the fitting.
Is this suitable for outdoor? Will it rust?
Asked by littlejkhw June 9, 2018yes it will rust, because it does not have a protective coating other than the oil that is initially on it. but if you spray paint it with the proper paint it will be more resistant to rusting.
Why is this fitting not to be used on plumbing applications?
Asked by Stainlessteele April 6, 2017To further clarify - all the items in the Pipe Decor series are constructed with the exact same standards as the rest of our fittings, nipples, and pipe and can be used for gas, air, and lp applications. The 5-way and 6-way fittings in the Pipe Decor series are a proprietary design and not covered by ASME B16.3 standards so they cannot be rated for plumbing use.
