This black iron pipe and fittings are designed for above-ground gas, liquefied petroleum (LP) and air lines. It is pressure tested for reliability and rated at a maximum of 300 PSI at 150 degrees F and 150 PSI at 300 degrees F. It is not intended for potable drinking water needs.

I bought these as part of 2 legs for a laundry folding table. They served to allow a 2 pipe brace between the legs. I couldn’t find black pipe table legs online for as high as I needed (40”- height of a washing machine) so I created my own. Kits for shelving are cheaper and slightly lighter in weight so compare when using black pipe for a non plumbing project. The good thing is that if you want to go longer or shorter during assembly, you can pick up any matching diameter pipe and they fit- I did that too.

Used these fittings and piping to remake an old desk. Worked very well. When assembling the desk be careful not to tighten using levers, but rather hand tighten, otherwise, fittings will never release.
