Do you have 25lb bags

Asked by Bharat October 8, 2020

This is a question that home depot could easily answer but they send it previous purchasers. As Far as I know it only comes in 50 lb bags which is a shame as some people don't need that much (12000 sq ft feed) and some can't handle that heavy a bag.

I have Scotts Elite Spreader which has settings that go from 1 to 15. Would you know the setting ...

Good afternoon We recommend that you use a setting of 6 to 6.5 for the Lesco 18-24-12. The Elite spreader is usually about a 1/4 to 1/2 setting higher than their EdgeGuard and the setting on the EdgeGuard is 6. The setting of 6 will put down approx. 4.2 lbs per 1000 sf. Thank you for contacting the Lesco Product Support team.

I put milorganite down recently but the lawn isn’t greening up. Should I put this down and see if it green’s up?

Asked by Pat August 18, 2020

The Lesco 18-24-12 fertilizer will put more "umph" in your lawn quicker than the milorganite will. The Lesco is a more precise method with pros and cons and the milorganite is more stable for more stabilized lawns. Milorganite will produce the nutrients for the root system typically between 55-85 degrees without excessive watering. The Lesco should provide a quicker dose of nitrogen and produce the green you would like - possibly. Your question didn't reference your location (sun, water, temperatures etc.) or if the lawn is established. Typically, Lesco 18-24-12 is a "Starter" fertilizer and should give you the green you desire. On established lawns, Lesco (used in too great of quantity) may "burn" the lawn due to a "shock" where as the milorganite nutrients will be released slowly depending on correct temperatures, water, and sun. The bottom line is to typify your lawn and think about your location, variances in water, temperature, and sun. To achieve a green lawn, you need nitrogen; how much nitrogen and effectiveness will depend on those factors. Nitrogen helps your grass to appear green, lush and thick. Nitrogen aids in the creation of chlorophyll, which is responsible for producing the green pigment in grass and is the compound by which plants use sunlight to produce sugars from carbon dioxide and water. which produces a healthier root system. The bottom line is that the Lesco will provide quick release nutrients and the milorganite will provide slow release nutrients to make your lawn green. Good luck and happen gardening!

How many pounds per square feet should I apply when seeding new lawn?

Answers

Good afternoon The Lesco 18-24-12 covers 12,000 sq ft so, 50 (lb) divided by 12 = 4.16666 or 4.2 lbs per 1000 sq ft. Thank you for contacting the Lesco Product Support team.

When should I expect to see results from the starter fertilizer?

Asked by Paul June 16, 2020

Answers

Good morning Any fertilizer, including our Lesco 18-24-12, should start greening up your lawn within a week to 10 days. It is very dependent on the amount of moisture in the soil, and how well it has been watered in. Any granular fertilizer needs to be adequately watered into the soil for it to start showing results. Then it takes time for the microbial activity to break it down to a nitrogen source that the plant can actually use. We hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting the Lesco Product Support team.

OK for vegetable gardening?

Good morning Although this fertilizer was developed for lawns, it can work as a garden fertilizer as well. There are no pesticides that will adversely effect edibles. However, we would recommend, applying it at half the rate that you would use on a lawn, which is about 2 lbs per 1000 sqft. Thank you for contacting the Lesco Product Support team.

Great ratio for all season long. Fast acting for immediate results. I put it down a week before the holidays Easter, Memorial Day, 4th July, and Labor Day. I have dark green lawn spring, summer, and fall. I don’t use any other fertilizer, I just adjust my rate! I follow a strict program and my seed is Scott’s Kentucky Bluegrass.

I had over seeded my lawn this fall. The scorching, arid heat this summer had the lawn flattened with a straw like coloring. We used this product about several weeks after the overseeding. New seeds have sprouted and the established lawn is lovely and healthy in appearance. Lesco makes quality products and their help desk gives excellent advice.

We purchased a new construction home in Pennsylvania where the top soil was stripped away and we were left with barren heavy clay and rock. Establishing and maintaining a thick healthy lawn would be a monumental task. We had top soil trucked in, spread same after aerating the clay and applied grass seed and Lesco starter fertilizer. The results speak for themselves. 100% recommend.

Definitely helps me dominate
I'm a new homeowner and a year ago when I moved in the lawn was terrible as was my neighbors on both sides. I did a soil sample and basically my soil was deficient in iron, potassium, phosphorus and had low ph. I watch YouTube videos that basically said starter fertilizer will fix everything (LCN). I now include this in 2 of my 5 fert applications at 3.5 pounds per 1000sf in conjunction with milorganite and JG mag-i-cal.

Easier to spread for me, but the results keep me coming back
Frankly, I got tiered of every year having to breakup clumps of the well known fertilizer. Aside from leaving me a yellow mess, it is unhealthy to breath the fines or have it on your skin. Lesco is clump free, it is process different. Spreads like a dream (every time). This is my third year and the results just continue to amaze me! My yard looks better than it did when I had a name brand lawn service! My neighbors, who still uses the service, are frustrated by my success. It is often hard to find at HomeDepot as someone (maybe the name brand) seems to always put a display in front of the Lesco bags. But, take the time to find it and try it one time and you will be hooked! Plus, you save money!
