Questions & Answers

Do I need to purchase a cover for this LG unit
BySep 17, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

A cover is not strictly required for this LG 23,000 BTU 230-Volt Window Air Conditioner Unit Cools 1400 sq. Ft. with Heater, Remote, and Dehumidifier in White, Model # LW2423HR, nor for any window air conditioner, regardless of brand or manufacturer, but it is useful for blocking cold drafts and keeping debris if you leave the unit in your window during winter. Sealing the indoor side reduces heat loss and saves energy on your heating bills. However, you also need to keep in mind that fully plastic, airtight exterior covers can trap condensation and cause rust or mold. Unsecured covers can give insects and rodents a cozy place to nest. Experts often recommend removing the window unit completely and storing it indoors for the winter rather than leaving it in the window with a cover...^Ivan.

Will the heat work if the temperature falls below 32 degrees?
    BySep 10, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

The heating for the LG 7,600 BTU 115-Volt Window Air Conditioner Unit Cools 330 sq. Ft. with Heater, Remote and Dehumidifier in White, Model # LW8023HR, is supplemental heat and it will work if the external temperature drops to 32°F. The heating function is designed to operate safely as long as outdoor temperatures stay above 20°F to 23°F. Since 32°F is comfortably above that operational threshold, the unit will turn on and emit heat. While the unit will technically work, you should expect reduced performance when it hits freezing temperatures due to how it is built. The LG LW8023HR uses a built-in electric heating coil (similar to a space heater) rather than a reverse-cycle heat pump. While it won't "freeze up" or lose heating efficiency like a heat pump does in cold air, its heating capacity is relatively small. This model provides 7,600 BTUs of cooling but only 3,850 BTUs of heating. This means the heater is only about half as powerful as the air conditioner. At 32°F, the unit cannot serve as the primary heat source for a standard 330 sq. ft. room. It is strictly designed to take the chill out of the air on "unexpectedly chilly nights" or to assist a home's central furnace. If used in an uninsulated garage or drafty sunroom at 32°F, the air coming out may only feel lukewarm...^Ivan.

The specification for this unit says that window minimum and maximum window width is 29 inches, where other units have a range for the window width such as 29 inches to 41 inches. This only works for 29-inch window width?
        ByAug 20, 2026
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

The listed Window opening maximum width (in.) of 29" in the specifications for this LG 23,000 BTU 230-Volt Window Air Conditioner Unit Cools 1400 sq. Ft. with Heater, Remote and Dehumidifier in White, Model # LW2423HR is incorrect. It is for installation in standard single-hung or double-hung windows with actual opening widths from 29" to 41"...^Ivan.

                  Poor Quality on
Do not buy from this brand. I purchased an air conditioner on September 30, 2025, for $760. Because it was purchased at the end of the season, I did not use it during the winter months. On June 7, 2026, I turned it on for the very first time, and it was not cooling at all. I immediately contacted customer service, expecting them to stand behind their product. Instead, I was met with rude and unhelpful representatives who showed no interest in resolving the issue. Their only solution was to have the unit repaired, even though the air conditioner is essentially brand new and failed the first time it was used. What makes this even more frustrating is that this is not my first bad experience with this company. I previously had problems with a washing machine and a dryer from the same brand. In those cases, customer service was just as ineffective, and I ended up losing money because they never provided a satisfactory solution. A company should stand behind its products and treat customers with respect. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. The products have been unreliable, and the customer service has been among the worst I have ever dealt with. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this brand. There are many other companies that value their customers and stand behind the products they sell.

I installed this unit today. We like the sound and air so far but won’t get to try the heat for some time. Don’t like the design. The cover doesn’t close well, and the accordion panels could have a much easier install if there was a guide on the bottom. I would not buy this one again.

I have about 30 of these Units in rental properties. I started using this exact same LG AC w/ heat in 2012 and LG continues to use the same frame. Super easy to just slide out and replace with a newer unit. I still have many of the original 2012 units still in operation. The primary thing that fails in these after 4-5 years is the heating element. It's fairly easy to replace after the first time figuring out how to access it. I'll say the average lifespan of these is probably 6-8 years. Longer if you keep the coils clean and know how to make basic repairs like the heater coil, fan blades, and electronic control boards. In this day of throw away appliances, that's pretty dang impressive. I'll continue using until that changes.

Living in an environment where temperatures are often over 100 degrees. My shop is 900 sqft and the swamp cooler just wasn’t adequate so purchased this Air Conditioner unit. What a difference. Definitely worth the money to cool the shop and allowing me to work comfortably. I would recommend buying a unit that’s rated for a space larger than the one you’re cooling. Again my shop 900 sqft and this unit is rated for 1400 sqft. Unit was not delivered to the store as promised. In fact a few days later and online tracking information wasn’t updated in a timely manner.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The air conditioner works great but the heater part is absolute trash! Air temperature from the heat is 82 degrees. A 1500 watt heater puts out more heat than this.

Had this unit installed and at a setting of 63 degree it still doesn’t blow cold air. Took unit back to store thinking the unit was bad. Next one same problem, doesn’t blow cold. I bought a different, smaller unit at almost half the BTUs and it makes the room cold. Very disappointed in tha LG, maybe it’s made for heating more.

I picked up this AC unit today. My husband and I spent 2 hrs installing, turned it on and it sounded like a train. Called LG, got transferred 6 times and finally got the right guy. Discovered a broken part of the fan. Their answer- box it back up and return to Home Depot. No warranty- no replacement. This think is HEAVY and a beast to lug around. What an inconvenience!!! I will not be replacing this with an LG.
