Im not sure what you are expecting
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have two of these units as part of several brands that we own due to losing our house AC in the middle of August in Florida several years back. All of the units were instrumental in keeping us cool. They again saved us during hurricane IRMA. Are they perfect? Heck no!! Do they work as expected? Heck yes!!! Are they loud? Yup!!! It is perfect white noise. People who are writing negative reviews have expectations that a portable AC unit would never meet. Some of the negative reviews also reflect folks who don't understand how AC works or that this type of unit has to be sized to the space it is going to be used in no different than a whole house AC unit. Portable AC units are a temporary fix for what should be a temporary problem. Depending where you live and the then current humidity level will determine how much water is being expelled by exhaust and how much needs to be draining into a container (just like a whole house AC unit) . I am in Florida and again without AC in the middle of August. Why - because the level of pride and ownership is extremely hard to find in this country anymore. Now back to the product. We empty water that is draining into pans from the two LG units every 8 hours. We also dump water from every other portable AC unit in the house. I would estimate about 3 - 6 gallons a day. THIS IS EXPECTED!!!! THIS IS HOW AC WORKS!!!! It removes the humidity (WATER). If it didn't you would potentially grow mold along with all kinds of other issues and NEVER BE COMFORTABLE. We currently have 5 portable AC units, 6 fans and 2 dehumidiifers running to keep a 2300 sq. ft. one stry home tolerable while I wait for someone who cares about fixing my whole house unit. Is it perfect - not even close. What other options do we have??? Then add in COVID19 which is causing a major global supply chain disruption and we have a recipe for disaster. I have several products from LG, have always been happy with them. They have been reliable and functional. This is my 2 cents (that I will be contributing to help with the coin shortage)

bought it july 2017 as of today august 2018 , a year and a month later it is failing . Compressor will not stay on for more than 5 minutes , then shutting off for 20+ minutes blowing hot air . Utter crap , low quality Korean junk, believe the one and two star reviews. Pass on this unit design to fail in a year.

This portable air conditioner is exactly what I was looking for. It really cools down the room and the best part about it, it will let you know when you have to clean the filer or drain the water. Not like the others I have experienced in the past that requires once a week. I totally recommend this product if you are reading my review. :)

We've had this unit for 2 years and it works perfectly. Easy to set up. Basically you just take it out of the box and set up the venting to the outside. At the end of the summer you roll it outside and drain it. It works great. We live in a 940 sq.ft. apt. I set it up in the dining/living area and I always set it on Low/Cool and then set the temp as low as it will go, this will actually cool the room faster than the High fan setting. I never use the Dry setting as you have to empty it more often. I put a box fan about 3 to 4 feet in front of it to direct the air down the hall to the bedrooms. On an extremely hot day (100 degrees or over) this unit keeps our whole apt at about 75 to 76 degrees. Pretty good since it says only cools 300 sq. ft.

While a little noisy and a bit undersized for our room, this unit did get us through over a week of near 100 degree days and nights of over 70 degrees until we could get a new AC system installed. It was a real lifesaver.

We bought this last night as our temps are suppose to be near 100° this week. It is being used in an insulated room in our shop, our bedroom. (The rest of the shop is the same temp as outside.) I'm the wife setting this up, 50 something years old, and though it's heavy I managed it just fine. It's on wheels once you get it out of the box. Cut the straps and the whole box lifts off the base - the unit sits on a cardboard & styrofoam base - just lift it a couple inches and set it on the floor. Basically it was just measuring the window and selecting the right pieces to fit the window. One little screw (4 were provided) to hold 2 of the right sized pieces together, set the vent hose in it and give it a good bump to snap it in place, set it in the window with one strip of non adhesive foam between the panels and the horizontal sliding window (plenty more adhesive and non adhesive was provided), attach the other end of the vent hose to the unit and it's done. I was very happy the screen stays in the window - it doesn't even touch it! :) The thing works great! It's in about a 288 sq.ft. room and I have it set to 69° and it's currently 67.7° in there now. It says if you keep it on "cool" mode there is no water to empty out so that is how I have it set. The diagram shows that if you set it to dehumidify ("dry" mode) to pull the hose out (in the back of the unit) and set it in a bucket. Not sure I'll do that. Hotel room air conditioners always dry me out so I figure to not do that. My only complaint is that it is loud! Like too loud to sleep with it on. The fan setting, low vs high, there is very little difference in the noise level. I might nap with it on in the day time but I don't think I'd want to sleep with it on at night. It's intended use is for us and the dogs to have relief from really hot daytime temperatures. It's really easy to opt to have the window open at night since the screen stays in place. Another reason we got this unit is that we'll have a new house soon and this is very portable (room to room) and it will be very easy to resize for different windows depending on the room - it will be very easy to switch rooms and windows.

It's enough to cool a very small room, for the most part. When it's really hot, you'll probably want to just sit in front of it because the stream of air is frustratingly narrow. Bought this one three summers ago because our poorly ventilated apartment was sweltering, and it's a reliable little necessary evil on hot nights. I like the auto-on/off feature, although I wish you could set it to a schedule instead of manually selecting the hours each time. The 2 fan speeds are basically the same, and both are LOUD. Super-duper loud. Like you have to crank the TV's volume all the way up to compete, it's so loud. And the noises it makes are strangely intricate. If you listen to it for a long time when you're falling asleep, you start hearing things in the hum, like how you hear the ocean when you put a shell up to your ear. I'm pretty sure it's trying to brainwash me using subliminal messages. Doesn't help that it looks like a little R2D2 sitting in the corner. It does get the job done, although at a cost, and it's still going strong after 3 summers. All hail our robot overlords. What - who said that?

Let's start with the positive ok. It's stylish, not too large, cools adequately and has wheels. Now allow me to get into it... 1.) The ventilation hose tends to slip out from where it needs to be. 2.) This ac is noisy. Sometime I need to choose between feeling cool and listening to the television. You will need to turn your volume up when using this product. It says if the ac is too noisy, put on a flat surface (tried, but couldn't. (see 3.) Nothing recommended worked. 3.) The drain is positioned in an awkward position. It's at the bottom of the ac. So, what I have done is propped it up on a stool so I don't have to lift it up to take out the water. But my last negative point, is the most annoying and aggravating thing about this product. 4.) The water.OMG I can not talk enough about the water situation with this thing! I literally have to empty the water EVERYDAY it's in use!!! E_V_E_R_Y_D_A_Y. It has been like this since day one. I can't go out like everyone else and come back to enjoy a cool home. NOOOO. Should I try to do so, water will have leaked all over my floor. I bought this thing because my daughter and her friend have a similar model which I fell in love with. They told me they get rid of the water on a monthly basis or less. I have spoken to the reps a few times, both during and after the warranty period about this problem. They never offered to send out anyone to check my ac free of charge during the warranty period. They said I needed to use a hose to get rid of the water. The hose wasn't included when I bought it and nowhere did it say that the hose was required to remove excess water. It did however, say that it could be used in the dry mode. This ac is flawed and they know it. But to not take care of the problems its customers are having is ashamed. I've tried unsuccessfully posting reviews about this twice. Let's see if it gets posted this time.
