French Doors and Moisture
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like the refrigerator and freezer, especially French doors. However, there was constant condensation on the door slat that seals the doors shut. The seals eventually turned black with mildew and mold. Was told that LG knew of the problem and that this model was supposed to have a heated door slat that would eliminate the condensation and mold/mildew issue. I replaced the seals and noticed that the electrical connection behind the door slat hinge had been cut and taped over and a unheated door slat was installed while being built at the factory. Previous models of this refrigerator had an Energy Saver switch which cured the condensation issue. This one needed a heated door slat since there was no such switch. The factory did not build this refrigerator with the correct part to avoid condensation...which I am now trying to fix. It is a nice unit, but ONLY if it was correctly built and has no defects that lead to a constant condensation problem. Someone at the factory messed up and I hope LG will stand behind their product.
    Great LG Refrigerator
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great place in the refrigerator. Clean lines, and it works outstanding for a large family.

Since buying this refrigerator four years ago this appliance has been nothing but trouble. It has some nice features with plenty of storage but it has turned out to be very bad value for my family. The main problem is that the freezer builds ice in the very bottom from water leaking from somewhere. After a while the ice builds up so much that it begins to be difficult to close the door and water further leaks onto the floor. This has damaged our wood floors. The other problem we have had is the lack of customer service from LG. They did send a repairman to fix the fridge. Twice. The first time they sent the wrong part and he wasnt able to fix it. The second time they got the right part but the same problem still occurs. We contacted them AGAIN and were told hey would be in touch with us but they havent tried to contact us since. After cleaning out the ice in the bottom of the fridge for the hundreth time today I decided to write a review so that other people wont make the same mistake we did. Avoid this fridge!

        No drip tray
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In general I like the layout of the fridge. We ran into an issue early on when a bad smell was coming from behind the fridge. Thinking something had spilled I went to look for a spill tray and there is none. Any excess condensation/ defrost water ends up in trays that can only be accessed by removing the back of the fridge. Even then the small trays are impossible to clean. After the first incident we put all packages of meat on cookie sheets to be sure nothing could get down into the fridge. Vacuumed out dust, cleaned with bleach. Smell still comes back when it is hot and new water shows up so we realized that defrosting water of any kind ends up there to stagnate and the smell blown around by the fan. How hard would have been to have an accessible tray under the fridge??

The refrigerator was everything we expected. Beautiful finish, easy open doors and drawer. Plenty of space in the main section and the freezer held more than we expected. It is also quiet and well lit inside.

          FABULOUS........except what's with these doors?!
Purchased late May, already had the "flap" attached to left door replaced, it kept jamming and would prevent both doors closing. Nothing found in directions about opening either door first, etc. Not one cautioning word heard from LG rep who took our Cust. Svc. call (but she was very nice, really!) or either of the two service company personnel said about opening either door first, either. Guess what? The new one is doing exactly the same thing, and there seems no rhyme or reason to its cause, we can't figure out any sort of pattern which results in its happening. Sure would appreciate some word/explanation/update from LG. I have quite a number of LG products and feel they are generally excellent work. This problem makes no sense and I seriously doubt it can be operating as designed, no engineers would clear it working at it does now.

So far, so good. I've only had it for less than a month but I really like it over my last refrigerator. My last one was a smaller top freezer refrigerator and I frequently hit my head on the freezer handle after I'd stand up from looking inside the refrigerator. It was manufactured in 2005 by GE. The refrigerator part stopped working so I needed to either repair it or get a new one. Also, when you closed the refrigerator door on the old one, it would sometimes pop open the door on the freezer. You'd always have to check since it didn't have an alarm to tell you that a door was open. The Wire Cutter review said the LG refrigerators are the ones with the least number of complaints by far so I chose one which would fit the space available and would break down the least. Several reviewers stated that refrigerators with ice dispensers broke down more often and I wanted one with fewer moving parts. Many sources also said that if your refrigerator is more than 10 years old, it's more economical to buy a newer, more energy efficient one than to pay the repair bills on the older one. I'm beginning to entertain more so this LG refrigerator works very well in storing more food than the last one, too. I looked at several online retailers who sold this refrigerator and Home Depot had the best deals all around. They sold it for less or the same price, they delivered it for free and hauled away the old one for only $20, their delivery date was a week from when I ordered it instead of a month or more, and their 5-yr protection plan was the most comprehensive and least expensive. The Wire Cutter also recommended buying the added warranty plan for at least 4 years since faulty refrigerators will usually break down within the first 4 years of ownership. Home Depot's covered food spoilage and a type of rebate if you don't file any claims within that period of time. They don't have a 4-year protection plan.

I looked for over two years for a fridge that would fit in the space that we had. We found this in a smaller model (its 29.8 w x35.5 x 65.5) We’ve had it for almost two years now. We don’t have any problem with how it works...only how it’s designed. The adjustable shelves are ridiculous. I would much rather have them be totally adjustable from the back vs the molded adjusters on the sides. We have adjusted them every which way so regular sized items like salad dressing bottles, bottled water, jars ,gallons of milk would “fit”. Your left with either a shelf with too much unusable space above, or a shelf that’s only 4.5 in tall that you have to totally unload to get to things towards the back. Or resort to laying the bottles down..They really need to rethink this. .. It’s looks beautiful, however the “stainless steel “is very soft.. meaning it scratches very easy, my wedding ring has done a number under the handle of the doors. Not crazy about the freezer space. Once something goes in, you never find it unless you constantly rearrange. AGAIN REGULAR SIZED items that normally go in the freezer... just don’t fit... unless you take them out of the original package. NOT GOOD FOR A FAMILY..But since there is on.y two of us,we deal with it.

We purchased this 5 years ago, and the refrigerator worked fine, but is noisy. Recently the icemaker failed to stop water flowing into the ice tray. Basically, if the icemaker fails to drop the ice cubes (which occurs if the ice tray gets scaled up), the maker will continue to try to fill the tray, and water will overflow into the ice box, and eventually fill the freezer and overflow out of the refrigerator onto your floor. This occurred overnight and caused much damage to our house. I tried to order a new ice tray, since that needs to be replaced and should be replaced often. LG does not sell it separately. Instead they only sell the icemaker for $170 including shipping. I think this is wrong and they should sell it separately.
