Q:We have the 4.2 cu. Ft. washer dryer combo unit. We have had it about a year now and run the clean cycle about once a month maybe 6 week. Recently the unit is not drying. Clothes come out still damp after 3 to 4 hours of drying. What could be the problem

Answer This Question
A: There are several reasons as to why clothes are coming out still damp after 3-4 hours of drying in your LG 4.2 cu.ft. Compact Electric Condensing Front Load Dryer, Model # DLEC888W. Did you properly sort your loads of laundry? Be sure to separate heavy-weight items from light-weight items when creating loads. Are you drying large loads of heavy fabrics? Heavy fabrics take longer to dry because they tend to retain more moisture. To help reduce and maintain more consistent drying times for large and heavy fabrics, separate these items into smaller loads of a consistent size. Use the appropriate control settings for the type of load you are drying. Check your home’s or laundry room’s fuse box/circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. Make sure that you are not overloading the dryer. Divide larger loads into a number of smaller loads. You will also need to check that the condenser in the dryer is not dirty or clogged. Doing so will increase energy consumption and drying times. The condenser is a very important part of your dryer. This is where the moisture is removed from the air so there is no need for an outside exhaust. If the condenser is not properly maintained, it will greatly increase energy consumption and drying time. The condenser should be cleaned 3 or 4 times a year, or any time the Clean Condenser light blinks. Make sure to empty the water container. If your dryer is not connected to a household drain, then the water reservoir will capture the water from the drying process. This should be emptied for every load. Failure to do so may result in poor drying performance...^Ivan

Substandard materials used in the product
Arrived today with plastic composition door sensor already snapped off. Unable to use and negative review vanished. Planned obsolescence that keeps costs down and bolsters profits lead to low customer satisfaction. Should have heeded original review.

The best!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LG has done it with this ventless dryer. This dryer is the best one I have ever owned. I’m 70. The feature letting the drum stop and then reposition the clothes makes my dry time faster. My clothes come out soft and with no wrinkles. My only complaint is that LG makes only a compact ventless dryer. (See pic) I call it Shorty!

Great Compact Dryer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They no vent feature was why I selected it for my mobile home. It works great with minimum care and upkeep. After one year, an issue has developed apparently due to overheat or control unit problem. The trump quits turning, however, turning off for a few minutes and restarting, and it works again. Overall.... I am happy with it...

Worst Not Drying Dryer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought it almost a year ago. It took 4-6 hours to dry a standard load. The water is leaking out from dryer and broke my wooden flooring and side of my door.

I ordered this dryer because my new place didn't have a vent to the outside. I had considered getting a lint catcher for the end of the exhaust of a vented dryer but decided against it, because I didn't want to have to clean that out every cycle since its in the attic.
So I got this Ventless dryer and its been awesome. I have it in a laundry closet in the main hallway. I do keep the doors open when it runs, but it doesn't seem to generate so much hit that I couldn't close the doors. After each cycle I dump the water tray and clean the lent trap, which takes less than a minute for both. The cycle is a bit longer than a normal dryer, by about 10-20 minutes, but the value makes up for it. The alternative was cut a hole in my house for an outside vent or try this dryer. I made the right decision. Also the lint trap is very well built and seems to catch all the lint with nothing left in the compartment that holds it. I would definitely recommend this dryer.

Perfect size and features
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased for a small area in a Condo. Purchased the Washer/Dryer combination that was stackable. It is stable and does a beautiful job drying clothes without an external vent. Highly Recommended.

I purchased this set on line and Home Depot had it delivered and installed. I've only had the washer and dryer for a month but so far it's been performing with flying colors, only issue that I have is that when washer goes in to spin cycle it seems to vibrate a bit more then I was expecting, even dropped a bottle of detergent that I had sitting on top of the edge

Not what I expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this with a washer/dyer stackable for a small area. The dryer is a great size but does not measure up for me. My previous dryer was an LG and performed wonderfully.
The problem with this one is, lack of options control on the dryer temps. This dryer runs extremely hot. I use it mainly for sheets and towels and am concerned about how much life will be left in them drying at hot temps.
I am playing around with the controls and find I can use Manual or Mixed Fabrics to get a lower setting.
Another flaw is that the sheets tend to ball up. After about 20 minutes I have to go and separate them no matter how I place them in the dryer.
I now dry the towels in one batch and the sheets in the other (they still ball up).
On the upside the condenser tube goes directly into the drain eliminating the water reservoir.

Don’t waste your hard-earned money. I’m very disappointed with this dryer.
I’ve had this dryer for 10 days and it’s given me nothing but grief.
I’m surprised to see so many good reviews on here. I’ve had nothing but bad luck with this dryer. I’m wondering if these reviews are fake.
Problems:
• Large items like sheets and blankets roll up into a ball and don’t dry. The outside of the ball dries, while the inside stays wet and wrinkled! After I open the dryer, pull the ball apart, and start the dryer up again, they roll back into a ball in about ONE minute. I’m not joking. One. Minute.
• It takes a very long time to dry anything. Even little baby clothes take forever.
• The medium and low heat settings don’t work. Don’t bother with them. Everything has to be set to high, even if the fabric care label says tumble dry low or medium. Otherwise, clothes don’t dry.
• There are too many unnecessary, complicated settings. You have to read the manual to understand what each setting does. I’ve experimented with several settings, and none of them seem to make sense or be useful.
• You can’t set it for short, simple dry cycles. I wanted to dry a damp item for 15 minutes. Nope, you can’t do 15 minutes. The machine wags its finger at you if you try (it literally beeps at you if you try).
• The time delay dry feature is a minimum of three hours. The other day, I wanted to delay start by an hour. Nope. Again, it wags its reproachful finger at you if you try to set the delayed dry to less than 3 hours.
Yes, I read through the manual. It was useless. Yes, I’m following all the proper steps to clean out the lint dryer, empty the water reservoir, etc. But these steps don’t address my issues.
I wish I’d spent a little extra money on a different brand. I paid nearly $1000 for it after taxes and delivery fees. Such a waste!
