Questions & Answers

Is there added humidity to the room/house because it is ventless?

I have read reviews about humidity with a ventless machine and wondered about this model.
Asked by: Barbara
There is a small vent in the back that will emit a gentle stream of warm, humid air. The entire unit gets quite warm during the dry cycle, so it will heat up your home a little bit. Our machine is installed in our kitchen/dining area in a home without air conditioning in New England and the added humidity is barely noticeable. Contrary to some of the misguided answers here, however, MOST of the moisture in your clothes is actually sent straight down the drain and only a small amount escapes to the room.

How can I make short cycle...laundry is long, two hours.... how can I turn on only dryer, the cloths are wet

Asked by: Sara
The shortest cycles are Gentle and Wool/delicate. To select only a dry cycle, power on and select dry and cycle through the options. You can also select spin but it is limited to High, Extra High and none or tumble only.

No, it cannot be vented. It does not dry in the same manner as a vented dryer.

I purchased this product with the Home Depot protection plan in March 2016. In early December 2017 it began leaking water all over my laundry room. I contacted the protection plan customer service and was placed on a list to be contacted for a service date. On December 19th a rep looked at the model and said it was the mushroom float which had to be ordered. On December 29th a rep came to replace the float. He did not know how to do it so he called his boss who also did not know. After an hour the rep said it was installed and left. Two days later water was once again on the floor. Another ticket had to be opened and another rep came on January 11th and said a hose inside the machine was broken. He said the part had to be ordered and I would be contacted. It is now 1/19/18 and no contact. The washer/dryer has not been used for 1 month. DO NOT BUY THIS LG PRODUCT OR THE PROTECTION PLAN.

Definitely not the product you want if you are the type that uses Sundays for laundry day. I do small loads 2-3 a week and it works great, but large loads don't dry fully. DON'T FILL THE DRUM OVER HALF FULL, YOUR CLOTHES WILL BE WRINKLY & WON'T DRY.

We have had this unit for about four months and love it. Although the spin is so fast it can sound like a UFO, it overall is quiet. In our condo, it is located in the kitchen right next to the living room, yet it rarely disturbs us. Due to size constraints and the want or need to not have a typical apartment washer-dryer unit, we chose, for basically the same price, a much more ecological machine. Electricity use is minimal. Water use is minimal. No dryer vent to unclog and replace every year. We went with LG, even though it cost more than some other brands, because of parts availability in the US - just in case. My husband and I would highly recommend this machine, but keep in mind that you will have to alter the way you think about doing laundry. Instead of a once a week wash-a-thon, we launder stuff as we get a load size. Because you are not transferring wet, washed clothes into a dryer, you cannot be running two loads at a time (one washing, one drying). It also takes longer, but keep in mind, FAR LESS energy to dry the clothes. You will put dirty clothes in, delay the wash if you want so your clothes are laundering while you sleep, or are ready for you when you get home, and forget about them for about three hours. I recommend using the cool down at the end of the cycle. It gives the clothes a chance to tumble for up to four hours, and will eliminate wrinkles if you give it at least a half hour. This machine is very gentle on your clothes. Sweaters and delicates come out soft with no static. The guys who delivered and installed the unit for us were efficient, knowledgeable, helpful, quick and cleaned up after themselves

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still getting used to the new. We have had this machine for nearly a month now. I almost immediately noticed a huge drop in my electric and water usages versus our old stacking washer/dryer. There are a few things to know if you plan to buy. First, you will have to relearn how to do laundry. These types of combo machines are VERY different. Sort by type of material then color. Even then, the laundry will take a longer time than you are used to. So for a family of four, you will be doing at least two loads a day depending on the age of the family members. Second, preventative maintenance is essential, cleaning out the rubber seal after every completed cycle keeps the machine clean. It is a pain in the rear as well. I suggest using a wet microfiber cloth, as it has worked the best for us. Also the lint trap at the bottom front corner of the machine is hard to drain effectively if you don't have a pedestal for the machine. Third, it shoots out a LOT of lint in the rinse water. So much so, that our overflow sink had backed up and I had to use the plumber's snake to clean it out. Use a screen and be prepared to pull and clean it after the main wash cycles are completed. Lastly, it would be nice if the machine was a Bluetooth or WiFi capable model that we could control with the Smart ThinQ app and that it would come with a dry only setting. These negatives are manageable and do not outweigh the positives. The washer was able to get some stains out of clothes that we thought were permanent! They have been there for years and now are gone! The sanitary cycle is a wonder. The clothes have been coming out cleaner and softer than ever. The machine is very quiet, it is in a closet in our bedroom, and we can put a load in right before bed and have it run without waking us. The larger size is THE greatest, now we don't have to wash our comforters at the laundromat because the machine can handle them beautifully! I have recommended this machine to several friends who are also in need of a space saving option for cleaning their linens. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

It has many wash options, when drying the cloths many people worried about the humidity made by it and after having it nearly a year in a small utility room we don't notice any change in humidity or temp while it is drying the cloths. Heck in the winter i'll run a load just so I get a free humidifier! :P This is a great option if you run into a problem like we did where we needed to utilize every space for storage, getting this allowed us to convert our utility space into a pantry and spice rack area. The one downside to getting this though is the drying time, as others have said the drying time is awhile. I think usually on normal dry mode it is about three hours for drying, I will say though for the amount of time it runs you can hardly hear it, it is so quiet that even though it is right next to our living room we hardly even know it is running so that is also a plus! I'd also like to add one silly comment, one feature we didn't expect when getting this is that when the cycle you chose ends it plays a little ditty announcing it is done, it was a nice feature and nice to the ears instead of a loud and annoying buzzer as most washers and dryers I am used to do. I guess I will name a couple cons though slow drying time as i've said high price tag only came in white door is large, which should be good...but in my small utility room the water purifier makes it so that I can't open it all the way. Lint collector is different then i'm used to, it collects on the rubber rim around the inside of the door, take note though that using a damp cloth makes getting it all off way easier! Needs to be drained (note the little door on the bottom left in the pic) once a month or so.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It does it all This is a very unique appliance! The number of options you have to wash your clothes, spin, definitely gives you feeling of control over the time and cleaning power. It does clean at that. The spin cycle does jiggle it around some from slow to medium speed, but at full speed the balance returns and the appliance hums. This pulls the water from the clothes effectively. Thus when the drying happens, it hasn't as much water to deal with. While the drying isn't like that at laundromat, or stand-alone dryer, it does dry; it just takes longer and does just fine. It's surprisingly quiet though overall. Get those anti-vibration pads if you are worried about that. It nearly silences the unit. Not bad at all LG. Not bad at all. This replaced a stacked washer / dryer that came with a condo unit I purchased. There's no vent and my old installation vented the dryer into the heat pump. I actually had to replace the heat pump first, in part because the air handler was completely covered in dryer lint. I've never had a front-loader or a high-efficiency washer before. It does a good job. I've washed everything from socks to comforters to winter coats with it so far. Things I like: * All electronic controls * Ventless design. The water removed from your clothes in the dry cycle is condensed and goes down the drain. * Space saving. I'm going to put some shelves where my dryer was! * Large capacity. One of the main reasons I bought this one was that it was literally the largest ventless all-in-one unit I could find. Even though they exceeded the maximum load capacity a bit this unit was able to handle my comforters just fine when I used the "Bulky/Large" setting and those are the bulkiest machine-washable items I own. Things I don't like: * It feels a bit slow. It's not that it's actually slow, more that it can only handle one load at a time since it's an all-in-one. A separate washer and dryer can do two loads a time, one in the washer and one in the dryer. * There appears to be no way to set the unit to start drying immediately after washing. You have to manually start the dry cycle when the wash cycle completes. * The recommended 28x30 inch pan obstructs the door on the lower left of the unit. But the door is easily removable and the pan does not obstruct the drain filter behind the door. * I have a cat and her fur sticks like crazy to the door and seal. I have to wipe them off with a wet sponge after every load. Things I had to re-learn for this type of washing machine and dryer: * There's no lint filter. Instead there's a drain filter that you're supposed to clean once a month. I pulled it out after a couple of loads just to look at it and it looks easy enough to clean. * You must use high-efficiency (HE) laundry detergent but regular liquid fabric softener. You're supposed to use the amount of fabric softener as per the instructions on the fabric softener bottle but not exceed the max fill line on the washer. I haven't tried using bleach yet but I will consult the manual before purchasing. This unit doesn't seem designed to use pods or powders, except for tub cleaning. * You must clean the unit once a month using tub cleaner, which I was able to find next to the HE laundry detergents at a local store. * It's not mentioned in the manual anywhere, but everyone I know with a front-loader says you must leave the door ajar when the unit is not in use to preserve the seal and prevent mildew growth. Since this is on a hardwood floor, I purchased the recommended pan. I did not purchase the pedestal. The unit vibrates a bit when it spins, I'm not sure I'd want to put it on a pedestal unless it's bolted or otherwise secured.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest purchase ever! I bought it for my small place. I have been using for about a month now and it is so awesome! It saves a lot of space and unlike other washer dryer combo, it holds big capacity. Most of bad review is I think due to not reading the manual. Like not removing shipping bolt or not cleaning drain pump twice a month or overstuff the washer dryer combo. Becasue mine works really well and I had no problem. You need to only fill the washer half way in order for it to work well. It needs room to tumble dry and let the air move! I use different settings for different laundry. Handwash/wool function has been so good it saves my trip to dry cleaner. Also I use Allerginie setting for my pillow cover and bed sheets. It feels so fresh and well washed. I don’t need to wait for washer to finish and if I set for dryer, it automatically switch to dryer mode after washing cycle is over. Oh, don’t forget to clean the door and rubber seal to collect the lint. Also I occasionally clean the detergent dispenser too. You can remove it from the washer. Don’t forget to leave the washer door open so that water can evaporate and prevent from mold growing. Just please read the owner’s manual! It will save you from lots of confusion and pain to call technician. You can also stick the Quick reference guide on top of the washer for guidance how to use and do maintenance. Oh one thing I think LG can improve is that lint collecting can be better than keep wiping down the rubber seals..But overall, I really enjoy this washer dryer combo and in the future, I would purchase it again!
