A:  The Red wire is night light hot wire. It carries power from the panel to the night light. Make sure it is connected.

        Poor installation instructions
        This fan can be installed for new construction only, or some difficulty if one has attic access; facts not mentioned in the online description. Installation instructions were obviously not written by an English speaker, with significant steps left out entirely. Fit of parts, particularly the glass dome and finial, were poor at best. Should have expected as much from HD.
