Not impressed!
The initial setup is very easy as the cameras are POE and basically just plug and play. My main issue is the fact that the motion detection for these cameras is horrendous. With seven cameras set up for motion detection I receive about 100 false alarms every 15 minutes. With so many false alarms the motion detection is useless. I try everything from reducing sensitivity to reducing the detection area and nothing helps. I reach out to Laview support, who is very difficult to reach by the way, and they are no help at all. The only way to reach support was by email and it took them 3 days to respond. When support did respond their ideas were everything I had already tried so I was basically told to deal with it in a roundabout way. Also the instructions the system comes with are very basic and lacking detail. If it wasn't for the issues listed above this would be a good system for the price. The system has so many options thru the NVR's software but like I said the instructions provided are lacking details. If it wasn't for some YouTube videos it would have been difficult to even set the system up initially.

      Excellent Product
Was doing a lot of research on the net for security systems. Found that LaView had the best reviews and was said to be the best quality for the money. I must say after having the system installed all the reviews were correct. It really is the best system, picture quality, both night and day and the app for the cell phone is very well done. I must say I saved a lot money by buying a system myself and having someone else install it for me, rather than buying a system from one of those Security Stores. The system is perfect for home use, I would highly recommend it.

      it simply works as expected
Purchased this item with big discount end of last year. everything comes with it simply works. NVR is huge, exhaust fan is running strong. IP Camera is compact well built. Bracket seems to be aluminum. 2MP may not have the highest pixels but it is more crisp and less noisy since it uses same size 1/3 of CMOS image sensor. Motion detection recording works rock solidly. detection area can be edited, sensitivity can be adjusted too. Haven't tried audio nor alarm. now here are the cons: 1. fan is noisy even after putting in closet and it spins constantly regardless of how many cameras being connected and even if NVR is shut down. the only way to turn it off is switch off the power; 2. camera becomes warmer after running a few days continuously within house. 3. video streams over home network/internet are encrypted out of box. it needs to be disabled in order to be viewed remotely on mobile phone or PC. Disable it is easy to do locally in menu->configuration->DDNS tab but not be able to do it remotely. 4. remote controller is difficult to use, it is infra red with narrow reception direction. 5. HDMI/VGA output isn't auto adjusted based on external monitor resolution. further more HDMI and VGA resolution cannot be adjusted separately. These cons are trivial when comparing to the fact that it serves its main purpose well.
