Homedepot- If possible remove my recent comment "update on cable lengths" regarding this subject dated Sept 2, 2017. My camera problems mentioned were resolved when I power cycled the cameras to login in and change the settings. It had nothing to do with the DNR setting. I have two cameras running fine one 150 feet of cable, no problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Are these cameras self focusing are do they need to be manually adjusted from time to time ?

Asked by DrArcadio April 6, 2017

My system actually has two (2TB) SATA drives in the NVR for a total of 3.76 bytes of storage after the drives are formatted. That's typical overhead after formatting.

Can these security camera system be viewed through the Internet using its web address? Thanks.

Asked by DrArcadio April 5, 2017

The system can be set up to view from your phone or internet. However check with you Internet Service Provider to make sure they do not prevent (block) inbound port traffic that is forwarded to the NVR by your router.

Short Life
Purchased a previous version of this unit in December 2017. Worked fine for almost 3 years. Then the ability to view the video on a monitor failed. Laview did not provide any useful assistance and then didn't return my email when I responded to their suggestion, just closed out the ticket. If you only want it to work for a short period, this is great. But if you expect your $1000 investment to last more than a bit beyond the warranty, look elsewhere. I've bought lots of electronics over the years, but this has been one of the biggest disappointments, and disappointment with support from the manufacturer.

This is my second LaView system. My first LaView 1080P worked flawless for years in 110+ F Arizona summers. Once these cameras are mounted, the turn lock mounting base makes adjustment a snap. The cameras are all metal and a very solid unit. Like my old unit, the NVR fans are noticeable, but if you put it in an open back enclosure it cuts the noise in half. I'll tolerate a little fan noise to ensure longer life of the unit. The Graphic Interface is improved over my last unit and the SMART intrusion search function works quite well. The 1520 video quality is a big improvement over my old 1080P. In addition to a number of other improvements, this NVR has individual configurable resolution and live view settings for both the HDMI and VGA outputs. If you are an experienced security system user, the interface and functions are intuitive and easy to navigate. The manual/s are a little thin, so if you are a new user expect to spend some time learning the Graphical User Interface. I was very happy with my first LaView system and am pleased with the new unit. I gave it an Excellent rating based on the bang for buck.
