Yes, this motor takes one 9V battery and the battery needs to be replaced every 30 seconds. Hope this helps.

Is this fan safe to leave operating 24/7 ?
Asked by: Anthony
I have had this fan operating 24/7 throughout the summer, except when I am not at home. I turn everything off when I leave my house. It ran beautifully this summer, and saved me a ton of money on my electric bill.

Cyclone 20 in. Power Circulator Fan is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 674.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lovely floor fan at a great value! I've been using this 20" Lasko Floor Fan for the past few weeks. The design, features and performance are excellent. Since I could not find it in the store I ordered it online and picked it up at the Home Depot store. There's nothing to complain about really. I sleep on the carpet and the only problem that I've faced so far is that the Remote does not work from that floor position. I have to sit up and hold the remote at a slightly higher elevation for it to hit the target. Most folks sleep on a bed and very few - like myself - sleep on the carpet. I do so because of my low-back pain condition. This is not a complaint about the fan, really.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent fan, returned due to wobble This fan moves a lot of air and is reasonably quiet. However, the the fan blade assembly was a little off-center on the the unit I purchased which caused some wobbling. I ended up returning the fan to the store with the intention of exchanging it for the same thing. I was impressed that the return clerk said I could open another one and test it at the store before purchasing it. After walking over to the fan section to pick one up I changed my mind and ended up getting an all metal fan (http://www.homedepot.com/p/20-in-High-Velocity-Floor-Fan-SFC1-500BI/202757016). So, overall, it's a pretty good fan, but check it at the store for wobble if you can.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too noisy to use at night The fan does a good job of moving air if you don't mind the noise which is significantly louder than my 1996 Lakewood Kool Operator. Here's a comparison: 1. Low speed RPM is much higher, but it does move more air (not important to us) 2. Fan blade design generates more acoustic noise. 3. Grille pattern generates more acoustic noise. If you remove the front grille or reverse the pattern, the noise is reduced. Our main purpose was to provide a light breeze at night while we sleep so we can keep the thermostat set higher, but the low setting was still just too noisy. If noise is not an issue, this may work out for you as it is a good price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As powerful as advertised I love the fact that this fan can blow the air from my dehumidifier around my apartment so well that I mostly run it on the lowest setting. I live in an open studio although the kitchen is partially walled off. Getting the air to circulate completely around my apartment has been difficult up until now. I hesitated to buy this fan because I have a Lasko box fan that is not nearly as successful at blowing the air around as my Cyclone. Therefore, I thought ill of the entire company. But, no more. I took a chance on them because the price was right. Glad I did. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that you cannot detach the cover of the fan and clean it. I am very unhappy about that. But, the fan is great otherwise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cyclone 20" fan is "Very Noisy", and found Better! I use 2 fans to push the Hot air out of the house in the cool of the evening (all night during heat waves/ close windows at 7pm). I open screen doors/windows, on the other end of the house for flow thru...- This lowers inside temps in the house 15-20f, and I rarely have to use the AC! I've been using the WindMachine fans (on High), and they don't make enough noise to interfere with my watching TV/telephone.... I thought I'd give the Cyclone a try, and see if it pushed more air?- It was Very Noisy(Roar!), and I couldn't hear the TV, or phone ringing...! I'll stick with the WindMachine fans!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Fan. Definitely improves air flow. This is a larger floor fan, but it is not overly loud. We bought the fan to improve air flow in our large master bedroom and it definitely achieves this goal with the added bonus of creating "white noise" for sleeping. I love that it has a remote control. We have yet to turn the fan up above the low setting. I expect as spring and summer approach, this fan will help cool us until we need to break out our AC unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have purchaed in the past, will purchase in the future The three speeds are excellent. The tilt feature is prefect. At high speed I need to be careful not to stand directly in front because it could blow my hair piece off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Odd smell I purchased this fan to use while I was having my HVAC replaced. The size and stability is good. The fan has a moderate noise level and moves a decent amount of air. The problem I experienced is that the fan motor emitted an odd smell that was annoying and smelled up the house. I'm guessing it's the coating on the windings. I ran the fan for a while and the smell did not dissipate. I returned the fan and picked up a similar model Lasko at another store and experienced the same annoying smell. That fan will be returned as well. Overall, I liked the fan except for the smell.
