Bought 2 bottles, 1st bottle flows out nicely and self-leveled. 2nd bottle comes out thick like a silicone caulk and won't go down the cracks. Instead of returning it to the store and try my luck on another bottle, what can I use to thin it out?

Does this product remain pliable like caulk or does it harden stiff?

Asked by: Mike
It is so thick in the jug it is very hard to dispense, even after hours in the sun on a black top surface on a calm day.

This is much less expensive and works well in filling the cracks in my asphalt driveway. The only reason I gave it 4-stars versus 5-stars is that when I use the product after sealing my driveway (perhaps a few months after sealing), the sun turns the color from black to a very visible lighter color, which highlights the cracks. I'd recommend always using the filler before sealing the driveway and if you have to use this product after sealing the driveway, you can always take a paintbrush and put some asphalt sealer over this product when the sun fades the color. I do like the way it seals the cracks. I usually squeeze some liquid into the crack and then use a putty knife to make sure the liquid is level with the driveway. If needed, I'll add a little more and use the putty knife again. If you do this, the next time you seal the driveway, you won't have that raised crack line of filler showing.

Yes, it will crack. x2 more than other products, Their warranty customer service blames that if product experiences crack, its due to your structural failure. They made it all sound like it is your problem and their warranty program is just for the show.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shrinks too much when fully dried. I filled about 100' of cracks in my asphalt driveway ranging from 1/8" to 5/16" wide. I made 2 passes and slightly over-filled the cracks since I figured there would be some settling. It flowed deep down into the cracks over several hours, which I'm OK with but it took a few hours as opposed to say 10-minutes. My point is that I had to go back a 2nd day and re-fill them. Again, I'm OK with that since I know I had good penetration deep down into the crack. But, when I filled shallow depression of 1/4" deep over a large area (about 8" diameter), the product look like mud in a desert becaise there was so much shrinkage. There were shrinkage cracks all over. There was even shrinkage cracks in the 5/16" wide cracks that I filled. In closing, the product applied well when warm but I'm disappointed with how much the product shrinks. It is supposed to keep water/ice out of the cracks but with so much shrinking water and ice will still be an issue. I'm hoping to find a better product next year.

I scraped it with cardboard. I applied in the sun on a warm day, so it had started to set in some places. If you decide to scrape off the excess, you should do it within a few minutes of applying. This was easy to apply with the squeeze bottle. One other hint: once you have squeezed out a fair amount (10 - 15%) you should let air back into the bottle. That will make it easier to squeeze out more. Do the same after you have squeezed out the next amount, too. This comes out as dark brown but sets as black, so don't let that put you off.

I applied it thick to make sure i fill the crack. It was soft in the morning when it was cold and turned hard in the afternoon when the sun was warm. I kept doing this for 1 week before it finally get hard and remain hard but then i started to crack. It showed big crack.when it was dry and hard. Now I don't really know what I should do. I put it to seal the crack between the driveway and the floor in the garage floor to prevent water from sipping in between and wash out the soil under the driveway and garage's floor.

Worked better if spread with a putty knife or other tool to help it spread. The product was inexpensive, but time will tell if it is worth the investment in time to apply. Home Depots website or in store location indicators ability to find the product was woefully disappointing.

Many competitors have this, their current formulation is less viscous and runny than the others. It does say this will happen fro larger crack but it happened for smaller ones also. Yo want to smooth it out to avoid lumps and a noticeable indentation remains. if you bead it you get a lump. I don't know if there is something better. Tried the tube its the same.
