Product Overview

  • Protect and Beautify your blacktop Driveway
  • Fiber Reinforced for added Strength
  • EZ Stir, Non Skid Formula
Latex-ite 4.75 Gal. Optimum Driveway Filler Sealer is an asphalt emulsion based sealer designed to beautify and protect your blacktop driveway. Optimum will leave a deep black color while providing strength and flexibility with its reinforced fiber and rubber system. Recommended for all condition blacktop driveways. Helpful Hints before you seal your driveway: 1. Buy an extra pail: Any unused portion CAN be saved for touch-ups (You do not want to run out during the project as you might get color variations) 2. Flip pails overnight prior to doing job (It will be much easier to mix in the morning and will ensure consistency during application). 3. Do the project all at one time without starting and stopping. 4. Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecast and it is at least 55°F at night (A cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly). 5. Check latexite.com for further tips and How to Videos. (Note: If product is not available to order in your area that is due to nighttime temperatures. Product may not cure and/or track in late fall and early spring applications).
  • 8-year warranty
  • Coverage on smooth/previously sealed driveways 400 sq. ft. to 500 sq. ft.
  • Coverage on rough/porous or unsealed driveways 300 sq. ft. to 400 sq. ft.
  • Remember: clean your driveway thoroughly so sealer will bond and make sure you do not seal when it is cold outside, it must be at least 55° at night for sealer to properly cure and last
  • Do not seal in early spring or late fall as the sealer will not last - it will not cure properly and may track
  • Fiber reinforced and rubberized for durability
  • Premium EZ-stir formula, save time and effort
  • Low VOC, coal tar free, soap and water cleanup
  • Non-skid formula
  • Assurance: we stand behind our warranty - it is not prorated

Questions & Answers

What is the coverage of 1 can 4.75 gal

Asked by: Timk
Before I started my project, I read a wide range of reviews saying it covered 300-500 sq ft, depending on the condition of the driveway. In my experience, with a 10 year old driveway that had never been sealed (in good condition with all cracks filled), I budgeted on the low end at 300, but in the end got less than 200 per bucket. What I expected to be an 18 bucket job, turned into a 32 bucket job.

Can a paint roller be used to put sealer on ?

Can a paint roller be used to put sealer on ?
Asked by: John
Yes, I used it the last time (4 years ago) that I coated our driveway. The whole project went much smoother using a 9" standard paint roller (with 3/8" napp) screwed to a long wooden broom handle, than with the squeege that they recommend. In the past, I always used the squeege, and the process was long and very back breaking for me (lifting and tilting the container each time you need to dump some out, then constantly trying to 'level out' the puddle with the squeege. When I used the roller, all I had to do was mix each container (used my battery powered electric drill with a long, steel stirrer tool to do it); put the stirrer into a container with water in it to prevent the sealer material from hardening between buckets of sealer--with the drill still attached to the top to save time between containers, then just slid the container with my foot, dipped the roller in and completely saturated the roller and "painted" the driveway. When finished, the driveway looked better than it had ever looked after previous coatings! Plus, I finished the job (used about 5 containers for our 2,000 sq. ft. driveway) in about 1/3 the time it took me when using the squeege! And the biggest plus for me was that my back felt great from not having to lean over to dump the containersm 150+ times, and just using the roller on the long pole. It was so easy!! All our neighbors commented how great it looked. Many thought we had a professional paving company do the job. For the ease and time saving, and the great look at completion, I truly recommend using the paint roller. I'll never use a squeege again!!!

How long must you stay off the driveway after using this sealer?

Asked by: Paul
I could walk on it after an hour. I could drive on it after 24 hours. Maybe I'm just lucky because I get direct sun on the driveway most of the day

It isn't warm enough to use this latest driveway sealer bucket, but after using more than 6 buckets over the past 2 years, we know we can count on Optimum sealer. We've used it on 2 driveways and have another to do when the temps rise and rain slows down! We used Crack Stix first, and find it works.

Put on 2 thin layers as per manufacturer for best results and filled cracks with their crack filler. Currently sealer is flaking off to driveway surface prior to its use. Almost all cracks are back.Looks great at first but worthless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product, bad customer service Applied last year as directed. After 1st winter 50-75% chipped off. I understand Midwest winters are harsh but a product with an 8 year warranty lasting less than 1 year is unacceptable. I contacted the company and they won't reply to my complaints.

Prepared my driveway quite well with pressure washing and crack sealant. Looked great for one summer, but the product is completely destroyed and flaking after one Alaskan winter. I do not recommend using this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased I ordered a pallet and saved a significant amount of money. I took my time and prepped the driveway per the companies recommendations. I turned all containers upside down days before starting. I flipped the containers back over and used a drill mixture first and boxed the material into another bucket several times before pouring it on the driveway. The temperature on the day I sealed was 79 degrees. It took me 6 hours todo half the driveway, which was 17 buckets. I kept the vehicles off for 3 days. So far, it looks fantastic and I hope it lasts a long time. Based on my prep work, I am confident it's going to last.
