Lava Heat Italia. Sounds like a great place to purchase a patio heater, doesn’t it? Well please please please do not do so. I purchased 6 of them four years ago. For the first year they operated as they should, with the exception of the remotes which never worked. During year two I had to start making repairs but I am mechanically inclined, so that was not a huge issue. Taking them apart and fixing broken components was annoying, but warranty support would not return my telephone calls so I moved on and tried to make it work. During the third year of ownership I began to have significant issues with the units. Finally after several emails and telephone calls I was able to get replacement burners sent for a couple of the units. However, when the new burners arrived they did not at all fit the frame for the units that I had and did not include any of the automated electronics. Further the replacement units would only burn with placed in the full-throttle position. This resulted in the glass on two of my units being broken while members of my family were standing beside them! Luckily this only led to minor cuts but it put me on the path to getting replacement for the $5,000 plus I had spent on the Lava Heat Italia units. After nearly two years of back and forth, I am saddened to say that I have received completely pathetic and inept support from Lava Heat Italia. The best that they could ever do was to offer to upsell me to the equivalent unit in production of what they have now at an additional cost of over $3,000 MORE dollars out of pocket. That is right, they no longer make the parts for my four year old units and absolutely refuse to honor any type of warranty despite a written receipt. I take care of my stuff and have a mechanical aptitude to be able to work on things. I am a patient person and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. However, Lava Heat Italia fails miserably on all accounts. The units did not work correctly from day one and warranty support is as aggravating as your worst case can possibly imagine. Unless you have money that you just want to burn with Lava Heat Italia, find a better option. Any other manufacture you choose for patio heaters would be a better alternative.
