The water sensor prongs are on the flat bottom of this square and there are no wires to enable expanding sensor position options. So in my case, I cannot use this device. I have no place where the leakSmart can lay flat.

I am sorry to hear that this didn't work for your needs. Typically sensors are placed on the floor below appliances or inside cabinetry with pipes which would be flat surfaces. Tested the product (both Temp and Water by a) putting the unit in the sink and slowly filling it ...
Tested the product (both Temp and Water by a) putting the unit in the sink and slowly filling it up and b) putting it outside and watching the temp fall, bringing it back in and watching the temp rise) and it does what it says it will.
It will provide a message to your smartphone/email of temperature that goes above and/or below certain thresholds you set and should it detect water.
It's been working for a couple of weeks and so far I'm impressed.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT
This product is terrible. I had this system installed by a plumber and it was not connecting to the wifi. My plumber and I called technical support several times over TWO MONTHS and they said someone would call us back and they never did. I finally uninstalled this system and the company finally called me back but after two months it is too late. I highly recommend the Moen Flo leak detection system and that is what I went with after this terrible experience. HORRIBLE COMPANY.

Still in beta-testing. Save your money.
I have 10 of these sensors. These sensors also routinely lose connection to the hub. Requires manual battery removal and reinsertion to reset them. Overall, the LeakSmart system requires more maintenance to keep it operating than my 30 yr old Ford.

Unstable
Have a new shutoff (2020) with a Hub 3.0 and detector. Sadly, despite strong WiFi signal, lack of interference, and conditioned power supply, the Hub drops off line every 24-48 hours and can only be re-set by manually pressing the reset button on the unit - difficult to do in a vacation home four hours away. Multiple calls to support who are very friendly but have no real suggestions. They do point out that the system works locally even if offline, but for my application the whole purpose is to have remote access to the unit and my house. Very frustrating and with no fix in the works, will ditch the system and move on to something else.
