Product Overview

  • Offers protection from electrical fires and shocks in one device
  • Cuts power if a hazardous arc-fault or ground fault is detected
  • Installs in place of standard outlets
Today more than ever homes are equipped with important electrical safety devices to help protect people and property. Most prominent are the GFCI Receptacle, which helps protect people from shock or electrocution resulting from ground faults, and the recently introduced AFCI Receptacle to help prevent electrical fires caused by dangerous arcing conditions. Leviton combined these 2 technologies to create the new SmartlockPro Dual Function AFCI/GFCI Receptacle, offering homeowners the assurance of both shock and fire protection in one smart device. The SmartlockPro AFCI/GFCI offers an effective alternative to a DFCI breaker and features the convenience of localized test and reset. It provides clear visual indication of status making it intuitive for users to assess various conditions such as power availability and GFCI self-test status. The device also clearly distinguishes between a trip caused by a ground fault and a trip caused by an arc fault.
  • SmartlockPro dual function AFCI/GFCI receptacle offers a NEC compliant option for GFCI/AFCI protection in residential kitchen and laundry areas for new construction, modifications/extensions and replacement receptacles
  • Device is ideal as a replacement for ungrounded receptacles, satisfying NEC requirements for both AFCI and GFCI protection
  • Test and reset buttons are readily accessible on the face of the device
  • Trip threshold meets or exceeds UL requirements for tripping time on ground faults and on both series and parallel arcs for optimal safety
  • Patented bridge contact design provides individual sets of contacts for receptacle face and downstream receptacles; no power will be delivered to receptacle face if improperly wired (line-load reversed)
  • Improved immunity to high frequency noise reduces nuisance tripping
  • Superior resistance to electrical surges and over-voltages enhancing reliability
  • Status indicator light provides simple, intuitive feedback on power and protection status as well as indication of line/load reversal for at-a-glance analysis
  • 1-piece T-design trip latch mechanism provides efficient operation
  • Test and reset button colors match device face offering pleasing aesthetic
  • Impact-resistant thermoplastic cover and body for durability
  • Expanded wiring options with nine back-wire holes (two for each line and load connection plus one for ground with an internal clamp) for easy installation
  • Silver alloy contacts
  • Compatible with all Decora devices and wall plates for multi-gang installation option; available in select popular colors
  • Packed with coordinating wall plate for a finished look
  • California residents see Prop 65 WARNINGS

Will this Work with a fluorescent light

Will this Work with a fluorescent light
Asked by: fourwayne
You don’t need this to operate a fluorescent light. You need a regular switch to control the light fixture.

Will these fit in an older 1960's single metal box

Asked by: Mcerc
If you are asking about a standard metal outlet box, then it will fit unless there are a number of connectors in the box. If you are asking about a handy box, it may be too crowded. You can install a new box, right next to the breaker panel if you want, install this device in that box and connect the existing outlet circuit to this device. Then all outlets on the circuit will be protected.

To be used as sole AFCI protection for a circuit, the NEC (2017) requires four conditions be met: (1) Branch circuit wiring is continuous from the branch circuit overcurrent device (OCP) to the device (2) Maximum length of 14 AWG conductors between OCP and device is 50 feet. For 12 AWG wire, max is 75 feet. (3) The first outlet box (where this device is installed) must be marked (so future electricians know) and (4) "The combination of the branch-circuit overcurrent device and outlet branch-circuit AFCI shall be identified as meeting the requirements for a system combination-type AFCI and shall be listed as such." What breakers are listed with this device to provide the protection?
Asked by: Rand
The protection designation is intrinsic to the design spec's of the receptical itself. A standard breaker, therefore, is the answer when theses requirements are to be met.

Does this need to be connected to a combination afci/gfci breaker? or can it go to a standard breaker?
Asked by: Eric
Connect to any circuit protection device, breaker or fuse, and it will do its job.

I used this in our kitchen due to the line coming in splits (red wire in the electrical box). Much cheaper route putting two of these in than replacing the circut breaker with an arc fault and still having the need for GFCI in the kitchen.

Replaced 3 ancient outlets in our dining room with these spiffy afci/gfci outlets on knob and tube wiring. Installation was very simple and the instructions were clear (they provided multiple wiring scenarios with clear directions for each, in layman's terms). Obviously going this route was not as ideal as rewiring our home, but these outlets provide multiple layers of protection that we didn't have before.
