If it self tests itself, do the outlets down line keep loosing power? I am curious if I have a digital clock plugged in down line, will the time keep resetting itself because of the self test feature.
Asked by: Karl
the self test is not the same as doing the test with the buttons on the outlet. it tests itself without turning the power off.

Can I replace a 15 amp with a 20 amp breaker
Asked by: Philip
No. The wiring is most likely not compatible to handle the amperage if its 14 gauge. It can overheat and cause problems.

With the switch off
Asked by: ComumSensei
Hello, only if the switch is on. Will work the same as your existing outlets, unless you change the wiring. Check with a professional though if you are changing the wiring.

I want to install a GFCI on a 20 amp circuit, do I have to buy a 20 amp GFCI or 15 amp GFCI, which I already bought will work?
Asked by: Ajay
yes, you need to put the 20 amp GFCI into play. the 15 amp will be to week to sustain the circuit and do its job to kick the breaker if something were to go wrong.

Frist one we purchased light turned green which means that installation was proper, but still wasn't working checked fuse box and checked if wires were running electricity tried uninstall and re install and nothing so we took it back to the store exchanged it for same brand different one along with buying another one to put in the other bathroom and when we installed it again 3rd time it worked and we installed the other new one in the other bathroom and didn't work so we put the old one on and it worked so basically what I'm trying to say it's a hit and miss with these if you get a bad one you have to keep returning until you get a good one it doesn't mean something is wrong with your house it the GFCI Outlet that's bad even if it's new, so I still have to go return the other one that's bad for now I kept my old one. but for the price I guess I would keep buying and returning until I get one that works. I'm just glad it wasn't my outlet in my home the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product. Improper installation instructions. Product works great, now that I spent an additional half hour figuring it out. instructions say that the indicator light will be green if installed correctly. When I first installed the outlet, there was no power, and the indicator was unlit. The directions say if it's wired improperly, there will be no power to the face, so I swapped the line and load lines, even though I was almost certain I'd installed it correctly. When I turned the power back on, the indicator was green, but I could not reset the outlet and there was no power. After doing some internet digging, I found that the outlet will have an unlit indicator if wired properly, and will turn green once the outlet is reset. So I switched the wires back to their original installation, and the indicator was unlit. I reset the outlet, the indicator blinked red once, then turned green and I had power to the outlet and downstream. It would have saved me a ton of time had they written the instructions clearer.

Unlike previous GFCI outlets I have used, this one has screw terminals for the wiring rather than wire leads that connect using wire nuts. This may or may not be an issue - depending upon your situation and existing wiring, but it does make a little difference in planning. THE BIG ISSUE is that it comes in a disabled mode so when you wire it and turn it on, you get no power. The RESET button does not work until you plug something into it. They suggest a lamp or radio, but I used a little phone charger because it was more convenient. To be fair, this process is in the instructions - but who reads those? I did - after I was unable to get it to work. I am sure that this is a safety feature, but it is really inconvenient.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nothing Shocking about this Product I own and installed 4 of these gfci outlets around the house to replace original gfci outlets which had gone bad. Overall I had no issues with the outlets and they have all been working great for the last 3 months. If you are ordering online, remember they do not come with faceplates so order the faceplates if you need them. These switches are way slimmer than the ones used by original builder and look much nicer. Be careful and make sure you read and understand the instructions or ask someone who can help you. The line and load connections were flipped compared to the old outlets which almost made me install them improperly. Purchasing a simple outlet tester that confirms correct installation is a great idea and will give you some peace of mind. The outlet comes tripped from the factory so don't panic if it does not work right away. You must reset it first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anytime line voltage is used where someone could be grounded... Anytime line voltage is used where someone could be grounded such as near water in the bath or kitchen, on concrete floor, or outdoors, ground fault protection is cheap insurance against any electrical accident. I have these installed in multiple locations indoors and outside receptacles.

My 1959 home had no GFCI outlets in the bathroom or kitchen as required by current code. I bought these slim duplex GFCI outlets to bring my home up to code and to install them myself. The directions on installing the outlets inside the box itself are extremely good and helpful. Tape is placed over the load line screws which makes the connections on the outlet even easier to figure out. I had no issues installing the 3 GFCI outlets and they worked perfectly on my first try with power back on. They have been installed now for a week without any incidents. The slim design is also nice as my outlet boxes had a lot of wires bundled together in the back of each electrical box. I would recommend these outlets for any of you DIYers that are relatively comfortable with doing electrical wiring or if you are just replacing an older GFCI previously wired. Buying a three pack saves a bit over the cost of purchasing single units.
