Product Overview

Peace of mind, all the time. The SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI tests itself even if you forget. Designed to meet the latest UL standard for auto-monitoring (self-test) our complete line of self-test GFCI’s periodically conduct an automatic internal test to confirm that it can respond to a ground fault. With the slimmest profile on the market, the device allows for fast and easy installation, while Leviton’s patented reset lockout mechanism prevents reset of the GFCI if it is not wired or operating correctly. The SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI is the smart choice in ground fault circuit interrupter protection.
  • Provides continuous ground fault protection, detects and trips on actual ground fault even when self-test is being conducted
  • On initial power up, tests the GFCI within 3 seconds
  • Auto-monitoring exceeds the UL requirement
  • Auto adapts and shifts to more frequent testing if potential problem is detected
  • Status indicator light provides simple, intuitive feedback on power and protection status as well as indication of line/load reversal
  • Patented lockout action prevents reset if GFCI is damaged and cannot respond to a ground fault
  • Electronics are designed to minimize any false triggers
  • Reduced depth makes it easier to install in any electrical box, even shallow ones
  • Terminals allow for easy wiring options, back and side wire capable
  • External back wire clamps provide visual indication of proper wire seating
  • Withstands high torque and resists wire pullout
  • Standard brass self-grounding clip
  • Trip threshold meets or exceeds UL requirements for tripping time
  • Improved immunity to high-frequency noise reduces nuisance tripping
  • Advanced electronics design provides superior resistance to electrical surges and over-voltages
  • Compatible with all decora devices and wall plates; available in select decora colors
  • UL federal specification WC-596 rated

Yes you can get 10G wire connected. It may not fit into the wire slots but you can certainly curve it around the screw terminals if not.

You do not give enough information. The recepticle has a green ground screw to attach a ground wire to. If you have metal conduit through to a metal box ground the box to the receptacle green screw. Drive a copper rod in the ground out behind your garage and ground the green screw to it if you want to be sure the outlets are grounded and you do not have a service ground. Call an electrician.

Yes, they accept that type of cord. Sometimes you have to wiggle it from side to side as you're pushing it in. Otherwise the tamper resistant part doesn't release. It's annoying but you can get it in.

This model is not outdoor-rated. You should consider the GFWR2 instead.

Quality Outlet
I used this outlet as the first in a string in order to provide GFCI protection for the entire circuit. It works well and trips when it should without providing any nuisance trips. My single biggest complaint is that this, along with all tamper resistant outlets can be a royal pain, seemingly deciding completely at random if it is going to allow you to plug anything into it or not, thus I cannot give it 5 stars.

Installed this in a new kitchen island. Since the outlet needed to have armored cable inside the island cabinet, I used a metal box so the cable could be secured with the proper connectors at the box. I don't know if this is wider that other GFCIs, but it barely fit the metal box width-wise. I had to make sure to wrap the side screw terminals in electricians tape several times to insulate them and make sure they didn't accidentally rub the metal box. It seems to work fine other than that.

Yes. I daisy chained nine of these recepticals to operate independantly on two different curcuits (pigtails. When any one of them short out all the others stay on and are not affected. This works really well. All I have to do is reset the one that tripped to have nine of them working again). The outlet protectors work well, too.

Successful installation of this Leviton 20 Amp GFCI module was a pleasant relief. The unit came with thorough Spanish and English instructions that helped identify outlet wiring needed to safely return my house ground fault interrupted circuit (GFCI) to service. The unit size is 25% smaller than older units, reducing need to wrestle existing stiff house wiring back into the outlet box. The unit updates newer safety features introduced since my home was built in 1986. Instructions were clear with contact information for additional technical help if needed. Home Depot associates helped with their experience and realistic estimate of my electrical understanding and ability for this installation.
