No, this switch is "feed through" where the neutral is supposed to remain unbroken. See the instruction sheet at https://www.leviton.com/en/products/5410-i .
Other answers are out of date. HD does sell the Leviton 5410 in two other colors, ivory and brown. Search the site for "Leviton 3 Amp Appliance Cord Switch" and look for the ones with "5410" in the model number. Unfortunately, searching for "5410" doesn't work to find them.
It accepts cords up to 9/32'' outer jacket.
I have gotten both kinds from HD they sell both kinds. You have to read the package directions to determine which this is.
You cut the "hot" wire on the power cord, strip the two cut ends, and then connect the cut cord via the two terminals inside the switch. You will NOT cut the neutral wire, but you will run it through the switch untouched. I recommend taking your time, and making sure not to cut the insulation to the neutral wire. Please look for my review. It has a picture showing the setup of what it should look like. You will need a phillips or flathead screwdriver, and a wire cutter at minimum. Recommend a wire stripper to strip the cut ends, but not absolutely necessary.
no, switch is rated for 3 amps.
