Decora Smart with Z-Wave Technology 600-Watt Dimmer, White/Light Almond (5-Pack)

I have a few of these Z-Wave Plus dimmers and added a few more. They pair easily with SmartThings and Alexa. Being wired, they extend my Z-Wave mesh as repeaters. I got this decora smart 600-watt single pole dimmer with Z wave technology so I could control my lighting in my garage. After installing the switch and turning back on the power, I tried setting up to the wi fi network and could not get it to work. I tried a bunch of different things and have yet to get with the tech support but will be getting with them soon. I did follow the directions to a T with no luck.

An impressive, robustly-featured Z-Wave compatible switch. Although it says single pole, it is 3-way compatible. It has all the contemporary digital dimmer features including min/max preset dimming levels, adjustable fade-in/fade-out times, and works with most lighting types, including LED, dimmable CFL, incandescent, and halogen, up to a total load of 600 watts. Z-Wave operation is the big incentive and it connected flawlessly with my SmartThings hub. I haven't tried to exclude it, which can sometimes be a chore for Z-Wave. One great Z-Wave feature is that the device acts as a mini wireless relay router, extending the range of all devices in the network depending on where it's located. Instructions are clear, although there's not much troubleshooting help on Z-Wave issues if they occur. No negatives to speak of except that the unit is large - about the size of a GFCI outlet. If your switch box is crowded, you'll have to make room for it. And as with all power-required devices, you'll need a neutral wire in the box, which can be problematic with older wiring arrangements. Also, the instructions say it comes with a face color change option (I assume white to almond), but there were no such parts included to do it. White is fine in my case, so it's all good.

I have three different styles of Leviton smart switches and have been happy with them. They are easy to install, look great and are really easy to connect to my smart home. I use Wink as my hub (2.0) and then Alexa for voice control via Wink. It's pretty responsive and very easy to discover new lights. Plus, with z-wave you don't have to have a ton of different apps to connect to Alexa (e.g., Kasa, Geeni, Nest, Ring, etc that all require their own app.) I also appreciate that these don't require a WiFi connection directly so my router doesn't have more direct always on connections. I believe its added security as well since I only need to secure Wink rather than a dozen apps. Setting up in Wink is native and easy as you can just search "decora smart" and dimmers and switches come up with simple instructions to connect. For this install, I changed out three switches in a single wall panel: outside my garage (switch), foyer (dimmer), and porch (dimmer.) All three took all four wires, including neutral. Fortunately, my wall box was a single large box so it was easy to have the room to unravel the wires and install. Total time for installation of a single dimmer or switch was probably 15-20 minutes. All three took an hour or so. Once done, and once connected to Alexa via Wink I can now control and dim (for the dimmers). I'm really happy with these and would definitely recommend them.

These switches are great. Z-Wave is the way to go for smart products like this. Having multiple smart switches and such that connect to your home network and to the internet is not a "Smart" idea. Too many devices can cause conflicts on your network, slow down your network speed, and even make it easier for others to break into your network. Z-wave is all contained in your home and is a very fast form of wireless communication between devices. As for the switch, Leviton has always made a good product. This switch can also be used as a 3-way switch.

Easiest smart switch to install. I have a bunch of different smart switches in my house and this was the easiest for installation thus far. Usually the smart switches come with their own wires hanging out and then you splice them, which creates a bigger wire mess in your gangbox....This one just has the screw on connectors that you put your wall wires into and secure. Thats it!!!! It connected easily to my Wink Hub2 and the button has a great feel to it. It is responsive, doesn't have a delay from pressing it to the light turning on. It provides a large array of dimming levels and remembers the last setting. I also like that it paired with my Wink hub so I can create Robots to automatically turn on the lights when on vacation, etc.

I have gradually been replacing all the dumb switches in my home to smart ones and to not slow down my internet speed while enhancing smooth communication among all the smart switches, I have decided to use z-wave technology with Samsung Smart-things hub. It makes easy to set up scenes and automate the home. This z-wave switch is easy to install. Ensure you are comfortable with electricity otherwise, please get a professional. I plan to acquire more smart switches until I am able to replace every regular switch to smart ones in my house. The price is also great. No regrets at all.

The Leviton Decora Smart 600-Watt Single Pole Dimmer with Z-Wave Technology was breeze to install. I am a novice DIYer so when I say breeze, took me about 30 mins from switching the power on and off. A quick call out on this one, it is a Z-Wave technology device, so you will need a WInk Hub complete installation. It is single pole, meaning it is just a basic on/off switch. The design (DECORA) is a nice replacement to my existing switches. I would definitely recommend it but just make sure you have the Wink Hub though first.

Leviton's Decora smart switches are some of my favorite smart home items due to their ease of installation and build quality. The DZ6HD is no exception - it has clear instructions, is easy to install with the color-coded terminals, and Z-Wave setup was a breeze with my Wink Hub 2. I like that the switch always returns to the center position, which makes them just look nicer in 3-way applications as opposed to standard switches that are often "mismatched" in the up/down positions. The switch is rated for a number of applications: 600W Incandescent @ 120VAC 2.5A, 600W LED @ 120VAC 2.5A, 600W CFL @ 120VAC The dimming feature works very well, doesn't "hum" or cause my integrated LED recessed lights to flicker at low or very low dim settings.

The switch comes with the switch, small length of white wire and a wall plate. The wall plate is the screwless wall plate. In this installation it is not needed since it is a single plate and this is installed in a double plate installation. I tried using a screwless plate previously and although they look nice it seems like the plate will easily break when trying to separate the cover from the plate. The switch itself is very deep (approximately 2”). It’s difficult in smaller boxes to install in the box. Installation is fairly straightforward. The switch doesn’t have a definitive on/off “click” feel which takes getting used to. The same goes for the dimmer. It is not a slide switch. Tap at top or bottom to dim or brighten the light. Overall the switch looks similar to other rocker type switches so it looks fine in a multi-switch plate.
