Questions & Answers

Can these slides be installed on existing drawers in the kitchen or would they have to be brand new drawers ?

Asked by: Tanya
I have the old drawer sliders that are a wood piece above the drawer that has a plastic tringle piece slides along the wood stick. There are two drawers side by side. The wood stem is worn out and the plastic is always slipping off. Can I use these to replace what is now there.

How can you install this in a cabinet with face-frame drawer construction?

Asked by: EllenR
Cut a shim to the width the face frame overlaps the side of the cabinet. Recommend using a table saw for this. Screw your custom shim in place and install the slide on the shim.

What is the maximum load for this drawer slide

Asked by: Masa
I have yet to reach it but it seems to run 90pnds across a 36" wide drawer pretty easily. (loaded it up with my solid hand tools.)

Customer Reviews

20 in. Soft Close Ball Bearing Full Extension Drawer Slide (1-Pair) is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 150.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs perfect alignment These drawer slides have a lot of nice features like; extra clearance over the screw heads so you can use a heavy duty screw; Full extension so you can reach the very back of drawer without reaching under; and a very easy drawer release. They close very nicely before put on a drawer . Mine slides fairly free but will not self close. I have to push it all the way. One of the cabinet slides gouges the side of the drawer when cabinet space set 1 1/8 " wider than drawer width. They recommend 1" over and it binds at 1". They will probably work ok in a near perfect cabinet situation but I am not convinced. If fitting a full kitchen they could be very spendy unless you plan on staying for long time. I honestly prefer the old simple drawer slides. Although they do not have the features of these self closers they are inexpensive and not nearly as sensitive to misalignment as these. While they are nice I don't need soft close if they are that sensitive to install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from We returned these drawer slides after reading many reviews... We returned these drawer slides after reading many reviews about the rear plastic bracket breaking after only a few months. We decided to go with a different brand to make sure we were not having to repair newly installed pull out drawers in a short time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Difficult to Install: IMPOSSIBLE Certainly wish I had read the HD reviews before buying this product. I believe that I am a fairly capable carpenter and craftsman. Made a cabinet for my new bath with 4 drawers with the intent to use these slides. Made sure the new drawers were square and met all the tolerances specified by the rather skimpy instructions provided. As other people have said, I spent HOURS trying to get the drawers to close properly and slide well. Finally gave up and returned them all and bought the non-self closing type, hoping they would work, as I had already designed the cabinet around the slides. Thankfully, the non-self closing ones were a lot more tolerant and I am satisfied with their performance, even though I must close the drawers all the way myself. No big deal. I would not recommend that the average DIY guy try to use the self closing slides. Upon examination I was not thrilled with their engineering design either. I will say that the slides are ball bearing and claim to support 100 lbs and in that regard they seem well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size for base cabinets I got one pair of these through the seeds program and put them in a shop cabinet for my miter saw. I liked them so much that I bought ten more. These are precision made, sturdy, easy to install and I have every reason to think they will out live me. They are in every way a match for the expensive European slides that I used to buy from a wholesaler when I was a full time professional in the cabinet making trade. I used one set to repair a broken kitchen cabinet drawer (and will be making sure to salvage that pair of slides when I demo the kitchen, soon, I hope). Not long after, I discovered one of the kids standing on the extended drawer in order to get to the cereal. Now I know why the old slides were broken...anyway, these slides stood the abuse, although I hope they wont have to again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product. HORRIBLE instructions. These drawer slides are heavy-duty, smooth, and have a nifty gizmo that pulls the drawer in softly for the last couple inches. Overall, very happy. BUT. For a product that is billed as a "Do-it-yourself" kit, this came with the most GOD-AWFUL set of instructions I have ever encountered. I am not exaggerating when I say the step for mounting the rails to the drawer basically said "Use screws to mount them to drawer sides." HUH? WHERE, exactly do they go? A measurement, maybe? Flush back or flush bottom or SOMEthing? ANYthing? There were some measurements on the sheet but not in relationship to the drawer itself. And the pics for mounting the tracks make it look like they mount flush with the bottom of the door cavity: (Hint: they don't). I basically had to dissect another drawer to figure out how to mount this one ... that does not imply "Do-it-yourself" to me. Maybe i"m missing something.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cabinet builder I have been a cabinet builder for over 20 years and have used every kind I'd drawer slide there is, these were by far the worst. I was doing a job almost three hours away from my home and shop, my customer decided he wanted the trash under the sink to slide out which is not a big deal except I didn't have the correct length slide with me, so I ran to the local Home Depot and picked up one of these 22" soft close slides. These slides would not line up, would not soft close and after 2 hours of trying to get them to work they fell apart, I ended up going back to the job the next day wasting 6 hours of driving to install a good slide which took me 10 minutes to install and align. Do not buy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way too hard to install They look great and well made, and right up until you actually install them, they look like they are exactly what I wanted. But I could not have been more frustrated with the installation. Ultimately, I gave up and plan to return them. I am a pretty handy guy, installing something like this should be a 20 minute job. I spent a total of over 4 hours trying to get two different drawers installed using two different slide lengths and never got the self closing to work. The only way I could close the drawers was to push really hard. I had my father come take a look, as he is also very handy, and we couldn't see any reason for them not to work. They were straight and level, the drawers were both square, the clearances we all correct, but nada, didn't work. Finally I went online to look for installation tips and videos but Liberty offers nothing. I chatted with their customer support person (who disconnected me twice before I could type anything) and they only gave me the line about "check the clearance". Again, no videos, no troubleshooting steps, nothing. So, back these go and now I am looking for a new solution. Too bad, I plan to buy over 40 pairs of slides.
