Center to Center vs Pull Length

To determine what sized cabinet hardware you need, measure the distance between the center of one screw hole to the center of the next. This will give you the center to center measurement. Pull length is simply the distance from one end of a pull to the other and can be different from the center to center measurement. Pull length does not affect what size hardware you need but is rather based on style and design preference.

A: randy thank you for your question. While we do have a larger template- model #AN0251C-CL-U, it appears that it will be too small for your project as well, as it only goes up to 5-1/16 inches. Best, Customer Care Team

A: No. They don’t. It’s an expensive piece of useless plastic. If you have a lot of handles/knobs to mount, make a jig (luan & edge of scrap trim) with the correct inset distance from edge for holes drilled in luan. Either make a “corner’” for knob placements or longitudinal for handles. Mark center & align with center on edge to receive handle/knob. Align guide, drill pilot hole. If use 3/4” block can pre-drill vertical hole for accurate holes for knobs/handles.

I purchased this same LIBERTY template (see picture), same UPC #, at HD a number of years ago. I went to use it today for the first time. I have a 3" LIBERTY door pull (UPC#781266619532- see picture) and the holes on this template don't line up (see picture)! The only reason I didn't give this one star is because I was still able to make it work by marking my top hole and moving the template slightly and guess on the distance to get a proper alignment, and fortunately, I guessed right. It atleast allowed for a straight installation.

Align Right Cabinet Drawer Hardware Installation Template by Liberty Hardware is a handy little tool to have in your shop. I do a lot of wood working and it was always a pain and time consuming chore to mount drawer pulls and knobs. But with this handy alignment guide it is super fast, and easy to exactly mount single and double pulls. The guide is laid out in both inches and millimeters and the guide allows you to mount up to 4 1/2 inch wide pulls.

This template makes it easy to get the drawer pulls and knobs lined up perfectly. First decide where you want the knob or drawer pull to be. I used the #3 to align mine. You put the tool up against the cabinet making sure to hold it snug against the cabinet when you mark it. Once they are all marked you can check to make sure everything is level, which should be if you used the tool. Next, drill the holes and install the knobs and drawer pulls. It takes the anxiety out of this project. Perfect results!
